Small Goes Up, Then Back Down

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Bobby Rooney opened a pot to 24,000 on the button. Sean Small, the shortest stack, moved all in from the big blind for 121,000 total.

"I think I'm already priced into this," Rooney said. He made the call.

Rooney: {q-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Small: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

The {q-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{j-Spades} hit the flop, keeping Small in the lead. A {6-Clubs} came on the turn, and a {10-Spades} on the river, leaving Small with a straight and Rooney with a mere pair.

The next hand, Small raised to 33,000 after it was folded around to him in the small blind. Chad Holloway reraised to 67,000 from the big blind, and Small made the call. Both players checked through to the river, when the board read {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. Small checked a final time, Holloway bet 40,000, and Small called. Holloway turned over {a-Spades}{8-Spades}, and Small mucked his hand.
