Quads Do In Fact Beat Ace High

Steve Zolotow
Steve Zolotow

When Steve Zolotow got his 18,000-chip stack all-in preflop holding {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} against an opponent's {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}, it was bleak times indeed. He would need an ace or plenty of diamonds, or plenty of paint to stay alive.

Flop: {6-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{5-Hearts}

Things only got worse for Zolotow on the flop as his opponent hit a set. When the {4-Diamonds} hit the turn, Zolotow was drawing dead. However, that wouldn't stop the poker gods from whipping out another king, with the {k-Hearts} completing the board on the river.

And with that, Zolotow would be heading home.
