Ladouceur Clubbed by Koroknai in Brutal Hand

Andra Koroknai casts a glance towards Marc Ladouceur after the flop
Andra Koroknai casts a glance towards Marc Ladouceur after the flop

Marc Ladouceur raised to 480,000 from the cutoff only to have Andras Koroknai three-bet to 1.2 million from the small blind. Ladouceur responded by making it 2.15 million, Koroknai moved all in and Ladouceur made the call.

Showdown
Koroknai: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}
Ladouceur: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}

Both players held the same hand and chances are it would be a chopped pot; in fact, the only way it wouldn't be is if the board was four flushed in either spades or clubs. The crowd seemed disappointed both players had the same holdings, but they perked up when the {10-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop gave Koroknai a freeroll to a club.

Much to the dismay of Ladouceur's supporters on the rail, the {8-Clubs} spiked on the turn to give Koroknai the flush and the improbable double. The meaningless {A-Hearts} was put out on the river and Ladouceur was knocked down to five million.

Salaburu Over Ausmus

Level 33 : 120,000/240,000, 30,000 ante

Robert Salaburu raised to 495,000 from early position and just Jeremy Ausmus called him from the big blind. The flop came {4-Spades}{5-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}. Ausmus checked, Salaburu bet 580,000, and Ausmus called. The turn brought the {7-Diamonds} and another check from Ausmus. This time Salaburu bet 1.2 million, and Ausmus called again.

The river was the {Q-Hearts} and both players checked. Salaburu turned over {Q-Spades}{8-Spades} for trip queens, and Ausmus mucked.

That's the last hand before the mid-level break. We'll get you updated counts on everyone in just a few.

Esposito Flops a Set

Andras Koroknai opened to 505,000 in middle position, Michael Esposito called from the small blind, and the flop fell {8-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}. Esposito quickly led for 600,000, and Koroknai called.

The turn was the suicide king ({k-Hearts}), and Esposito led again - this time for 1.1 million. Koroknai called.

The {10-Clubs} completed the board, and Esposito slowed down, checking to Koroknai who checked behind. Esposito rolled over {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} for a set of eights, and took down the pot.

Jesse Jumping Up

Jesse Sylvia
Jesse Sylvia

Jesse Sylvia has had quite a last hour or so. Just now he was getting involved again, raising to 480,000 from the button. Scott Abrams responded with a reraise to 1,205,000 from the small blind, and after Jacob Balsiger folded, Sylvia pushed it up further to 2.6 million. Abrams looked at Sylvia's reraise, and was persuaded to fold.

Sylvia then three-bet the next hand after a Russell Thomas open, getting Thomas to fold, and is now sitting at around 25 million. Sylvia appears to have nudged into the lead at the moment as we near the next mid-level break.

Esposito Can't Get Over the Hille

Andras Koroknai opened for 505,000 and was called by Elisabeth Hille. John Esposito then called from the big blind and it was three-way action to the {10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop.

Esposito was first to act and led out for 505,000, Koroknai folded, and Hille made the call. Both players then checked the {9-Spades} turn, and Esposito ended up check-calling a bet of 505,000 on the {2-Spades} river. Hille revealed {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a pair of tens, and it was good as Esposito mucked.

Slide More to Sylvia

Following a Jacob Balsiger open from early position, Jesse Sylvia called from the big blind and the pair saw a flop come {K-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. Sylvia checked, Balsiger bet 500,000, then Sylvia check-raised to 1,665,000. Balsiger thought it over, then called. The turn was the {K-Hearts}, pairing the board. This time Sylvia pushed out a bet of 2.65 million. Balsiger called again, making the total pot over 9 million.

The river brought the {10-Diamonds}. After sitting quietly for about a half-minute, Sylvia slid out stacks of chips for a bet of 4.3 million. Balsiger sat a full minute himself, then pushed away his hand.

Baumann Booms a Double

Gaelle Baumann doubles
Gaelle Baumann doubles

Elisabeth Hille raised to 480,000 from the cutoff, and Gaelle Baumann three-bet shoved for 1.525 million from the small blind. Michael Esposito cold-called in the big blind, and Hille tank-folded.

Baumann: {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Esposito: {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

Baumann sheepishly turned over her hand, thinking she was in trouble, and was delighted to see that she had Esposito crushed. The {10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} flop pushed her even further ahead, and the {9-Clubs} on the turn ended the hand.

By the time the {4-Diamonds} completed the board, Baumann's French contingent was already cheering and singing from the stands.
