Jamie Robbins Eliminated in 19th Place ($294,601)

Jamie Robbins - 19th Place
Jamie Robbins - 19th Place

From under the gun, Jamie Robbins raised to 500,000 on the outer table. Action folded over to Jacob Balsiger on the button and he reraised to 1.2 million. Play folded through the blinds and back to Robbins. He called to take a flop.

The dealer rolled out the {9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} and Robbins checked. Balsiger checked behind to see the {10-Diamonds} come on the turn. Robbins moved all in for approximately 2.9 million and Balsiger made the call.

Robbins turned up the {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for a flush draw and straight draw. Balsiger held the {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for a set of nines.

Needing a queen or a diamond that didn't pair the board, Robbins' tournament life hung in the balance. After the dealer dealt the {3-Spades} on the river, Balsiger's hand held up and he sent Robbins out the door.

Robbins — who finished in 11th place in the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event for $896,730 — took home $294,601 for his 19th-place result here in 2012.

And with that, the field is down to just 18 players and a redraw will be made. PokerNews will have that for you shortly. The remaining competitors are now earning at least $369,026.

Pressure from Salaburu

Here were the last four hands from the short-handed secondary feature table:

Robert Salaburu raised to 410,000 from the button and won the blinds and antes. He again raised to 410,000 from the cutoff, and once more all folded.

On the next one, Gaelle Baumann open-raised all in from the button with the 2.5 million or so she had left, and the blinds released.

Then it was Salaburu raising again, this time to 425,000 from under the gun. Andras Koraknai called from the button, the blinds got out, and the flop came {10-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{5-Spades}. Salaburu checked, Koraknai bet 425,000, and Salaburu called. The turn brought the {6-Hearts} and another check from Salaburu. Koraknai checked behind.

The river was the {Q-Spades}. This time Salaburu fired 1.2 million and Koraknai called. Salaburu turned over {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and Koraknai mucked.

Esposito Up, Robbins Down

Jamie Robbins opened to 475,000 from the hijack seat, and the action folded to Michael Esposito, who defended his big blind.

The flop came {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}{8-Hearts}, and Esposito checked. Robbins continued for 625,000, and Esposito called. Both players checked when the {9-Hearts} turned, and the river was the {k-Clubs}. Esposito led for 1.025 million, and Robbins folded.

Paul Volpe Eliminated in 20th Place ($294,601)

Paul Volpe - 20th Place
Paul Volpe - 20th Place

On the first hand of the level, Steven Gee open-raised all in from the cutoff for around 4 million, Danny Wong reraised all in from the button for a little less than 8 million, and Paul Volpe called from the small blind with his last 3.5 million or so. Robert Salaburu folded, and the three players tabled their hands:

Paul Volpe: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Steven Gee: {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Danny Wong: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The flop came {5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, giving Gee an open-ended straight draw. The turn was the {J-Clubs}, and Wong still was in the lead. The river then brought the {4-Clubs}, giving Gee his straight and a big boost to his stack. Meanwhile, Volpe is out in 20th.

One more elimination and they will redraw to the final two tables.
