Dinner

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Because of the random, unscheduled ten-minute breaks throughout the day, the players are now on a 90-minute dinner break.

Wong Scores Huge Double Through Maag

Danny Wong Doubles
Danny Wong Doubles

We got the table in time to see the players turn their hands over after an all in and a call so we do not know the amounts of the raises. We do know that Danny Wong raised from the button and Nicco Maag three-bet from the small blind.

Wong four-bet and Maag announced a five-bet all in. Wong snap called with {K-Clubs}{K-Spades} and was crushing Maag's {j-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}.

The board fell {10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and Wong never lifted his head from the table for the entire deal. Once the river struck, Maag tapped the table and Wong lifted his head, a gleeful expression on his face. Wong is now among the chip leaders with 7,700,000 in chips while Maag has suffered a huge hit, his stack at 4,530,000.

Alban Juen Eliminated in 59th Place ($128,384)

Alban Juen
Alban Juen

Percy Mahatan raised to 130,000 from middle position, then Alban Juen reraised all in for 1.125 million from a seat over. It folded back to Mahatan who after a short spell determining the amount of the raise made the call.

Juen: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Mahatan: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts} and Mahatan was still in front. The turn then brought the {Q-Diamonds} and some "ooohs" noting the flush draw possibility for Juen. But the river was the {A-Hearts}, and after shaking hands with all and wishing them good luck, Juen was out in 59th place.

Trips vs. Trips

Danny Wong opened to 125,000 from under the gun, Shahriar Assareh called in middle position, and Jordan Batt called out of the big blind.

The flop fell {a-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{k-Spades}, and Batt checked. Wong tossed out 190,000, Assareh mucked, and Batt check-raised to 400,000. Wong called.

The turn was the {a-Clubs}, and Wong led for 350,000. Batt called.

The {6-Clubs} completed the board, and Wong slowed down, checking to Batt who bet 400,000. Wong called, and Batt tabled {a-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for trip aces. Wong's {a-Hearts}{j-Spades} was best however, and Batt's stack dipped below a million chips.

Strelitz Part 3: Not Slowing Down

Daniel Strelitz has gone from about three million in chips to the chip lead with over nine million thanks to a rapid succession of hands that have catapulted him to the top. You can read Part 1 here and Part 2 here, the following is Part 3.

From under the gun, Robert Salaburu raised to 120,000. Strelitz called from the hijack seat and Marty Zabib called from the big blind. All three players saw the flop come down {Q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Zabib checked. Salaburu bet 200,000 and Strelitz called. Zabib also called.

On the turn, the {10-Hearts} landed. Zabib and Salaburu checked before Strelitz bet 530,000. Zabib called and Salaburu folded.

The {5-Clubs} completed the board on the river and Zabib checked. Strelitz moved all in and Zabib folded his hand.

Strelitz Part 2: Eliminating Eric Legoff in 60th Place ($128,384)

From the hijack seat, Daniel Strelitz raised to 120,000. Eric Legoff reraised all in from the button for about 1.5 million and play folded back to Strelitz. He called with the {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}. Legoff had the {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}.

A board of {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} kept the eights in front for Strelitz and he busted Legoff to move to nearly eight million in chips.

Strelitz Part 1: Booming with Kings

Daniel Strelitz raised to 120,000 and Wilfried Haerig reraised to 290,000. Strelitz reraised to 560,000 and then Haerig made it 830,000 to go. Strelitz moved all in for approximately 3.15 million and Haerig called.

Strelitz showed the {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and was up against the {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} for Haerig in this massive pot.

The board ran out {Q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Strelitz's kings held up to give him over six million in chips.

Eric Pratt Eliminated in 61st Place ($128,384)

Eric Pratt opened for 125,000 from the button, and Jonathan Schoder called from the big blind. The flop came {7-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Clubs}. Schoder checked, Pratt continued for 150,000, and after a pause Schoder raised to 300,000. Pratt made the call.

The turn brought the {3-Diamonds}. This time Schoder led for 375,000, and after waiting several moments Pratt announced he was all in. Schoder took a long time — more than five minutes — deciding what to do, often shaking his head and half-smiling, showing it was a genuine struggle to decide. He counted out his chips, determining that he only had Pratt covered by a couple hundred thousand.

Finally he tossed out some chips and said call. Pratt patted the felt in response, and Schoder pumped his fist realizing he'd made the right decision. Schoder showed {A-Spades}{9-Clubs} for nines with an ace kicker, while Pratt turned over {Q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}.

Someone across the table congratulated Schoder on the call, to which he said "I could only beat a bluff." "Or queen-nine," said Pratt with a grin, and Schoder nodded. There was still one card to come, and when it came the {5-Spades}, Pratt departed in 61st place.
