Scott Anderson Eliminated in 51st Place ($156,293)

We have another member of the 10 million-chip club — Jeremy Ausmus, who after a recent hand pulls into a virtual tie with Daniel Strelitz atop the leaderboard with 50 players left.

The hand began with Scott Anderson raising from under the gun and Ausmus calling from middle position. The flop came {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, and when Anderson made a big leading bet of 325,000, Ausmus responded by shoving all in and Anderson called.

Anderson had {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} for an overpair, but Ausmus had flopped a set with {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}. The turn was the {9-Clubs} and river the {4-Clubs}, and Anderson is out.

50 players remain!

Dramatic Chop For Baumann and Strelitz

Erik Hellman opened to 125,000 from early position and Robert Salaburu three-bet to 280,000. Daniel Strelitz opted to four-bet to 540,000 from the button and it was around to Gaelle Baumann in the big blind. Baumann made it 1,000,000 to go, causing both Hellman and Salaburu to muck their hands.

Strelitz moved all in and Baumann called for her tournament life.

Baumann: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Strelitz: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

These two players had the same hand, but Streltiz picked up outs on the {8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop. The {J-Hearts} came on the turn and the rail let out a collective gasp. Baumann would need to dodge a heart in order to stay alive in this tournament. Fortunately for Baumann, the river was the {6-Clubs} and the pot was chopped up.

Hille Pushes Out Merson

After action folded to him on the button, Greg Merson limped and Elisabeth Hille checked her option from the big blind. The latter checked the {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop, Merson bet 85,000, and Hille check-raised to 300,000.

Not to be outdone, Merson made it 515,000 to go, but Hille was not deterred and four-bet 850,000. Merson quickly folded and it was off to the next hand.

Gee Grabs Chips from Paur

Steven Gee
Steven Gee

Taylor Paur opened with a raise from middle position, then Steven Gee reraised to 300,000 from the button. It folded back to Paur who made it 630,000 to go, and Gee called.

The flop came {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. Paur led out for 565,000, and Gee called again. The turn was the {9-Spades}. Paur took his time, carving out chips and arranging them in front of himself. He then announced he was all in, tossing in a single lavender chip as he did.

Gee winced a little and didn't act right away, but soon enough was calling. Now Paur was the one wincing. "Kings?" Paur asked as he tabled his {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. Not kings, but still bad for Paur — Gee had {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}.

The river was the {7-Clubs}, and Gee claims a large percentage of Paur's stack.

One for Wong

Just before the end of Level 27, Amit Makhija opened to 140,000 from middle position. Danny Wong defended his big blind, and the flop fell {k-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{10-Clubs}. Wong checked, Makhija continued for 180,000, and Wong called.

The turn was the {6-Hearts}, both players checked, and the {3-Spades} completed the board. Both players checked, and Wong tabled {q-Hearts}{10-Spades}. Makhija mucked his hand, and Wong won the pot.

It's All Down-Hille for Saeed

In the last hand of Level 27, Greg Merson opened for 125,000 only to have Elisabeth Hille three-bet to 300,000. Omar Saeed then woke up with a four-bet to 635,000, Merson got out of the way, and Hille moved all in. Saeed called off for 2,445,000 total and the cards were turned up:

Showdown

Hille{A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}
Saeed{Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

"Yes," Saeed said somewhat quietly when the flop came down a safe {8-Hearts}{5-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. The {10-Clubs} turn left Hille wanting an ace on the river, but she would not get it as the harmless {5-Clubs} peeled off.

Bullets For Hellman

Action folded to Erik Hellman on the button who made it 125,000 to go. Right next door, Robert Salaburu three-bet to 280,000 from the small blind. The big blind folded and Hellman threw out a call.

The flop was {K-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Salaburu continued for 150,000. Hellman made it 375,000 tot go and Salaburu called. The {9-Diamonds} turned and they both checked. The {4-Spades} completed the board and Salaburu checked. Hellman moved 475,000 into the center and Salaburu called. Hellman showed {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} and took down the pot.

Three Kings for Ausmus

Percy Mahatan grimaces
Percy Mahatan grimaces

From under the gun, Jeremy Ausmus raised to 125,000. Gwennael Grandmougin called from the next seat and Yuval Bronshtein called from the hijack seat. Percy Mahatan reraised from the big blind to 500,000 and only Ausmus called to see the flop.

The heads-up flop brought the {K-Hearts}{9-Spades}{6-Spades} and Mahatan tried to bet one million, but did so with a string bet and it was ruled that he was only allowed to bet 500,000. Ausmus called.

The turn card was the {8-Hearts} and Mahatan bet one million. Ausmus called and then the river completed the board with the {3-Spades}. Mahatan checked and Ausmus fired 1.6 million. Mahatan tanked, then called.

Ausmus tabled the {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades} for top set and Mahatan mucked. Ausmus was pushed the large pot and moved his stack to over nine million. Mahatan dropped back to 2.7 million.

Grandmougin Doubles

From middle position, Gwennael Grandmougin raised all in for 845,000. Amit Zulkowitz reraised all in from the cutoff seat to isolate and everyone else folded. When the hands were turned up, it was Grandmougin's {A-Clubs}{K-Spades} versus Zulkowitz's {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

The flop gave Grandmougin the lead when the {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{2-Spades} fell. The {7-Diamonds} on the turn left Zulkowitz looking for just a ten to bust Grandmougin. When the {J-Clubs} fell on the river, Grandmougin was able to breathe again as he earned the double up to over 1.8 million. Zulkowitz was knocked back to 2.1 million.
