Folded to Greg Merson in the small blind and Elisabeth Hille in the big blind, the two players would begin a raising war until all the chips were in preflop. It was Hille at risk and this is how the two player's cards looked.
Hille:
Merson:
Hille was looking good to double up and that would end up being the case, with the board ensuring that Hille raked in the big pot.
We happened upon the table with around 200,000 in the pot and a board reading . Joseph Opie had checked to Freddy Deeb, who fired out a bet of 60,000. Opie proceeded to move all in for 277,00 more, and Deeb thought for a solid minute before releasing his hand.
Joseph Cheong opened with a raise to 17,000 and had the player in the small blind ship all in for 68,000 total. The big blind folded and Cheong called without hesitation.
Cheong:
Opponent:
The flop came down and Cheong's opponent stood up from the table. The hit the turn, pairing Cheong's opponent.
"Oh there's always a sweat," said someone at the table. And just like that, the rolled off on the river, giving Cheong's opponent the best hand. Cheong is now down to about 750,000 in chips.
Just prior to the break, Dag Martin Mikkelsen opened for 15,000 only to have James Keys three-bet to 28,000. Action folded to perhaps the most well-known player left in the field, Hollywood actor Kevin Pollak, who moved all in for 147,000. Mikkelsen got out of the way and Keys made the call.
Showdown
Keys:
Pollak:
Pollak was on his feet in anticipation of the flop, which came down . "Come on," Pollak said. The dealer obliged as neither the not river helped Keys.
"David," Pollak told the dealer after the hand, "For the record you're my favorite." Pollak went on to say that it was the first time all tournament he's been all in and at risk.
Ben Greenberg of Boulder, Colorado has had a terrific Day 4 thus far, having begun the day with nearly a million and worked that stack up over 2 million and first-place position during the first two two-hour levels.
Greenberg is a graduate of Duke University where he majored in English and psychology. He is currently pursuing a career as a poker pro. At this moment his wife is flying in from Colorado to follow his Main Event progress in person.
Ben is playing with a broken arm, an injury sustained while sliding into home plate in a softball game. The injury is clearly not hampering his ability to push chips in the middle, however.
