Selbst Slipping

Picking up with the action on a board of {5-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{K-Clubs}, we saw Vanessa Selbst bet 14,700. Her opponent quickly reached for calling chips and put them into the middle of the table.

The {8-Diamonds} paired the board on the river and Selbst stared deeply at the board. She tapped the table with her palm and her opponent quickly checked behind. Selbst showed {9-Spades}{7-Hearts} for nine-high and her opponent tabled {A-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for kings and eights.

As Selbst's opponent stacked his chips, she never lifted her gaze of disgust and disappointment from the felt. Selbst is now under 300,000 in chips for the first time today.

Juanda Jumps Over Outhred

We just came upon a hand involving John Juanda and Alex Outhred in which Juanda found himself at risk of elimination after being all in after the flop.

The pair were playing from the cutoff (Outhred) and button (Juanda), and had already built a pot when the flop came {4-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{K-Spades}. Outhred checked, Juanda fired a bet, Outhred check-raised enough to put Juanda all in, and Juanda called.

Outhred tabled {8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for sixes while Juanda had picked up {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}. The pair then waited for the ESPN cameras to arrive, and Outhred joked self-deprecatingly about the hand not necessarily being a flattering one for him to have shown.

The table was still chuckling as the turn came the {2-Hearts} and river the {J-Spades}, and Juanda survived with a double up. "You're so lucky to get aces!" said Outhred, tongue obviously in cheek, and the table laughed again.

Baldwin vs. Somerville

We caught the action on the turn with a board reading {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. Jason Somerville checked to Eric "basebaldy" Baldwin, who put out a bet of 25,000. Somerville not only called that bet, but check-called a bet of 42,500 on the {3-Diamonds} river as well.

Baldwin revealed {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a flush, which bested the {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} flush of Somerville.

Von Kriegenbergh Felted Via Cracked Aces

In what would be Taylor von Kriegenbergh's last hand of the tournament, Von Kreigenbergh min-raised from the button and was three-bet by his opponent in the small blind. The player in the big then four-bet and action was back on Von Kreigehbergh - who pushed all in for about 100,000 total. The three-bettor folded, however, the four-bettor called to put Von Kreigenbergh at risk.

Von Kreigenbergh: {A-}{A-}
Opponent: {K-}{Q-}

Von Kreigenbergh was in excellent shape to scoop the massive pot, however the {J-}{10-}{9-} flop left Von Kreigenbergh's opponent with a straight for a commanding lead. The turn and river provided no miracle for Von Kriegenbergh and he was eliminated.
