Mefodichev Gets Best of Henderson in Back-to-Back Hands

In the first hand, Hugh Henderson opened to 275,000 from the small blind and was called by Vladimir Mefodichev in the big blind.

The flop came {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Henderson led out for 300,000. Mefodichev made the call to see a turn, which brought the {4-Diamonds}. Henderson led out again - this time for 500,000 and Mefodichev again called.

Both players checked on the {9-Hearts} river. Mefodichev tabled {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for a missed king-high flush draw, while Henderson tabled {Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a queen-high missed flush draw, which meant Mefodichev scooped the pot.

In the very next hand, Henderson opened for 275,000 on the button and was three-bet by Mefodichev in the small blind to 775,000. It was folded back to Henderson, who made the call.

The flop came {9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{5-Spades} and Mefodichev led out for 800,000, which Henderson called.

The turn brought the {A-Diamonds} and, undeterred, Mefodichev led out for 1.2 million, sending Henderson deep into the tank. Henderson decided to fold after about two minutes and Mefodichev scooped the pot.

Mefodichev is back up to 9 million, while Henderson has slipped to 2,850,000.
