Gironda Takes One from Johnson

From under the gun, Marco Johnson raised. Action folded to Vincent Gironda in the big blind and he made the call to see the {K-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop. Gironda checked, Johnson bet and Gironda called.

The turn was the {10-Clubs} and both players checked to see the {4-Clubs} land on the river. Gironda led with a bet and Johnson folded.

Rep Porter Eliminated in 8th Place ($17,107)

Rep Porter
Rep Porter

Action folded to a short-stacked Rep Porter on the button and he put in a raise. Hans Minocha defended from the big blind and then led out on the {9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades} turn. Porter made the call and then called a bet on the {8-Spades} turn, though he gave it a lengthy consideration.

When the {2-Hearts} peeled off on the river, Minocha bet and Porter called off for 14,000. Minocha shrugged and simply said, "Ace high."

It became obvious Porter also held an ace-high hand as he waited from Minocha to reveal his {A-Spades}{J-Spades}. Porter winced and rolled over the losing {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}.

Mizzi on the Move, Chan Losing Chips

"You got walking around chips now or something, Sorel?"

So asked Rep Porter, noticing Sorel Mizzi having gotten up from the neighboring table for a short stroll. Mizzi laughed in response. "Yeah, I can go to the bathroom, get something to eat," he said before quickly retaking his seat to catch the next hand.

Mizzi can't really walk too far away, but he's definitely got a skip in his step after having dipped below 50,000, but now moved back up close to a quarter million.

Meanwhile things haven't gone so well of late for Terrence Chan who is sitting across the table from Mizzi. He's been on a downward swing, having lost pots to leader Vincent Gironda and Mizzi to slip below the 100,000-chip mark to the bottom of the counts.

Another Double for Mizzi

Vincent Gironda raised from the button and was called by Sorel Mizzi in the big blind. The latter then checked the {K-Spades}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Gironda put out another bet. From there, Mizzi responded with a check-raise, Gironda called, and the {10-Hearts} appeared on the turn.

Mizzi and Gironda engaged in a raising war that resulted in the former being all in for 77,000.

Showdown
Mizzi: {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}
Gironda: {K-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

Mizzi's kicker had him out in front, while the {J-Diamonds} on the river gave him to pair and the double.

Mizzi Still Kicking

Sorel Mizzi has been hanging on here during the first few four-handed orbits of Level 21. He's raised and claimed the blinds a couple of times, and even got a walk once, but lost a few back to Terrence Chan.

Just now Ronnie Bardah open-raised from the small blind, and when Mizzi three-bet from the big blind the pair continued the pattern until Mizzi was all in with {A-Hearts}{3-Clubs} against Bardah's {Q-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. The community cards came {7-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{K-Clubs}, and Mizzi continues to survive, although currently sits with a stack of less than six big bets.

The Plan

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

There are only eight players remaining, which means once we lose one more, they'll combine to one table and head over to the stage in the Pavilion Room, though the official final table will not be set until just six remain.
