Roberto Romanello Eliminated in 7th Place ($48,924)

Roberto Romanello - 7th Place
Roberto Romanello - 7th Place

Jonathan Lane opened to 55,000 on the button and was called by both Craig McCorkell in the small blind and Roberto Romanello in the big.

The flop was a girl's best friend as it fell {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. Two checks went to Lane who continued out for 100,000. McCorkell got out of the way and Romanello reached behind and shoved his entire stack in the middle. Lane announced a call and both hands were tabled to see that neither player held a diamond.

Lane: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Romanello: {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Romanello was behind and in need of a queen or a nine, or running diamonds for a chop. He got none of those options as the turn and river brought the {3-Hearts} and the {8-Spades}. Romanello will take home $48,924 for his efforts today.

Lane Wins Key Race Against Esfandiari

Jeremiah Fitzpatrick opened from under the gun with a raise to 50,000. Jonathan Lane replied by moving all in for 385,000 total. It folded around to Antonio Esfandiari in the big blind and he announced a flat call.

Fitzpatrick thought for about thirty seconds before flicking his cards away and the two player's hands were exposed to the table:

Esfandiari: {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Lane: {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}

The board fell {3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Hearts} and Esfandiari was not able to pair up. It ended with Lane making a set on the river and it was good enough for a double up.
