PLO:

Scott Seiver's comeback versus Marco Traniello is on track after he doubled through the Italian to take the lead.

He did have to wait until the river to make a winning hand though. We didn't catch the board but Seiver made a set of nines with {9-}{9-}{a-}{10-}, beating out Tranellio's two-pair with {q-}{6-}{10-}{5-}.

Negreanu In a Fight

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

Daniel Negreanu just doubled Andy Seth on a board of {9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {Q-Spades}. Negreanu moved in and had Seth covered, and would have been down to his last lammer. Seth tank-called and tabled {Q-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} and Negreanu showed down {A-Clubs} {4-Clubs} and bricked when the river came a non-club jack.

So Long, Cheong

Level 4 : 100/200, 0 ante

Ismael Bojang was signing a form with a floor man before he headed off. He wasn't one of the lucky players to earn a bye, he had to earn his win off a former November Niner.

Joesph Cheong was in high spirits at midday, but now he's $3k poorer.

New to Pot-Limit Omaha? PokerNews Has You Covered

Today's Event 3: $3,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em/Pot-Limit Omaha marks the first tournament of the 2012 World Series of Poker that includes a game other than No-Limit Hold'em. The game we're talking about is Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) and it's one that's grown immensely in popularity over the last few years. In fact, some of the largest games in the world are run strictly with PLO because it tends to induce more action. We all know poker players love action and to gamble, which makes PLO such an intriguing and fun game for them.

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with the game of PLO, you can refer to the PokerNews Poker Rules: Omaha Poker page to check things out and get a feel for how the game is played. The page is complete with game rules, terms and also strategy links.

Omaha is similar to Hold'em in that it is a flop game, but instead of two hole cards, you receive four. The trick is that you must you two cards from your hole cards and only two cards, to make your best five-card hand at the end. This is the part that sometimes confuses people new to the game as they'll make the mistake of only using one card from their hand or trying to use three.

Just like Hold'em, there is a betting round preflop followed a betting round after each of the flop, turn and river. The most popular form of Omaha is pot-limit, which you'll see here today in Event 3. That means you are only able to bet up to the current amount of the pot at any given time.

If you think you've got the basics down and would like to dive into some strategy, Lex Veldhuis joined Kristy Arnett and Donnie Peters on the Strategy with Kristy podcast to discuss some PLO. Click here to check it out. There's also another podcast with high-stakes cash pro Jared Bleznick where he discusses some PLO. Check that one out here.

Traniello Snipping at Seiver's Stack

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

NLH:

Scott Seiver is battling with his last bullet versus Marco Traniello. We saw him as low as 3,300 before he won a few small pots to get back over 4,000.

Traniello opened to 400 but quickly folded to 3,300-chip shove from Seiver.

One other hand saw Seiver raise from the button and Traniello defend his big blind. The board ran out {7-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} with Seiver value betting for 200 on the river. Traniello called and mucked upon seeing his opponent's {a-Clubs}{7-Hearts}.

Second WSOP Event for Ivey

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante
Phil Ivey (Event 2)
Phil Ivey (Event 2)

Phil Ivey is back in action at the 2012 World Series of Poker here in Event 3. He's pitted against Aaron Jones in the first round and already busted one of Jones' bullets, as you can read here.

Yesterday, Ivey made his return to the WSOP after last year's hiatus in Event 2. He couldn't get too much going on the day, but here's a couple posts we made with him in that event.

We'll be keeping a close eye on Ivey in this event and hopefully he can generate some momentum to make it to round two.

Junglen Advances

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

Adam Junglen just punched his ticket to the next round. He had a fairly short session and looks to be one of the first players to advance to the next round without a bye.
