Up And Down For Ivey

Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Just for a second Joe Cassidy took over the chip lead from Phil Ivey, but on the very next hand he won enough from Meng La to get back on top.

First Ivey raised under the gun and Cassidy defended his big blind. The calop came down {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and Cassidy check-called. On the turn the {A-Spades} hit and Cassidy check-raised it to 80,000. Ivey folded his hand which brought him down to 900,000 and Cassidy up to a cool million.

The very next hand Scotty Nguyen raised under the gun and Meng La called from the cutoff as did Ivey from the big blind. The flop came down {K-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Spades} and Ivey lead out after which only La called.

On the turn, the {A-Diamonds}, and the river, the {8-Clubs}, La called bets as well after which Ivey turned over {J-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. Ivey had flopped a flush for the high and a A3458 low in order to scoop this pot. Ivey's back on top but it's very close between him and Joe Cassidy.
