Ali Eslami Doubles Up Through Manuel Bevand

We caught the action on the flop but know that Ali Eslami raised, Phil Ivey called, Manuel Bevand three-bet, Eslami called and Ivey folded. Moving onto the flop and {J-Spades} {3-Spades} {3-Diamonds} Eslami bet 151,000 (leaving himself 1,000) behind and Bevand made the call. The turn was the {8-Spades} and Bevand flung a single 1,000 chip into the pot and Eslami called.

Eslami{10-Clubs} {10-Hearts}
Bevand{A-Hearts} {9-Clubs}

The river was the {J-Hearts} and Eslami once again survives his scrape with elimination.

Ivey Finds Aces, Doubles, Leads!

Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Shaun Deeb opened to 60,000 from middle position, and Phil Ivey reraised to 165,000 across the table. Deeb asked how much he was playing, and Ivey rearranged his stacks to reveal all 390,000 he had behind. After another pause, Deeb announced, "Pot," and Ivey quickly moved all in for 555,000 total. Deeb was working with a small pocket pair and hoping to be in a race. He was not.

Showdown
Deeb: {4-Clubs} {4-Spades}
Ivey: {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades}

Ivey had found his spot, and Deeb had more than half his chips in jeopardy. The board ran out clean, coming {5-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {J-Spades} {Q-Clubs}.

Um, look out! Phil Ivey has the chip lead with more than 1.1 million. And he's got that look in his eye...

Ivey Takes One From Eslami

Ali Eslami has started limping into the pot with some regularity. This time the only person to enter the pot was forced to; Phil Ivey checking from the big blind.

Flop: {9-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {5-Spades}

Ivey checked, Eslami bet 30,000, Ivey check-raised to 100,000 and Eslami made the call.

Turn: {Q-Clubs}

Checkity-check

River: {8-Spades}

Ivey riffled his chips for a moment before declaring he was all-in. The bet was 'pot' for 260,000 and the bet had Eslami covered. After a few minutes dwell Eslami folded and Ivey picked up a nice pot.

Active Marafioti

Matt Marafioti
Matt Marafioti

Matt Marafioti has been the most active player since we merged to one table, both verbally and with his card play. We saw him raise to 75,000 in the hijack seat before folding to a Phil Ivey three-bet where Marafioti showed {A-} {Q-}. Then Ali Eslami limped, Marafioti made an isolation raise, Eslami folded and Marafioti showed {A-} {Q-} once more. Next Marafioti opened under the gun to 75,000, everyone folded and he showed {9-} {9-}.

Eslami Rivers a Winner

Ali Eslami

Andy Frankenberger raised to 50,000 from the hijack seat, and Ali Eslami defended his big blind to see a heads-up flop.

It came {10-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {8-Clubs}, and Eslami checked to the raiser. When Frankenberger bet 61,000, Eslami check-raised nearly all in. He slid out 194,000, leaving just his last yellow T1,000 chip capping his cards. Frankenberger announced the call, and the hands were held face-down until the next card.

It was the {9-Hearts}, and Frankenberger used an overkill pot-sized bet to get Eslami's last chip into the middle.

"I have a good hand now," Eslami announced. He was still behind with {J-Hearts} {8-Hearts}, but he was nearly even money against Frankenberger's {A-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}. The PokerNews Odds Calculator tells us he had a 45.45% chance of making a winner on the last card.

Sure enough, the river brought the {7-Spades} and the straight for Eslami, and he's found his double. Just like that.

Steve Landfish Eliminated in 11th Place ($34,139)

Steve Landfish is out in 11th place
Steve Landfish is out in 11th place

Despite being in the top few spots since the beginning of this tournament, Steve Landfish, will not be experiencing another World Series of Poker (WSOP) final table.

Shaun Deeb raised to 48,000 in first position and Steve Landfish moved all-in for around 180,000 and Deeb called.

Deeb{A-Spades} {J-Spades}
Landfish{K-Diamonds} {9-Spades}

"At least I have two live cards," said Landfish.

The flop of {9-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {2-Hearts} gave Landfish the lead. The turn of {7-Diamonds} made it even more likely that Landfish would find successive double ups. Then the river {J-Diamonds} turned the showdown on it's head.

"I knew it was coming," said Landfish.

With that elimination we have a our preliminary final table of 10 and will be moving to the main stage in the Amazon room so there will be a short delay in coverage.

Landfish Does it Blind

Shaun Deeb made a standard raise from the cutoff and Steve Landfish moved all-in blind from the small blind.

Landfish{K-Spades} {3-Spades}
Deeb{J-Clubs} {8-Clubs}

Landfish had lost complete control at this point in the hand. The dealer laid {K-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {2-Spades} on the flop and Landfish started to remonstrate that he can't win anything despite hitting top pair. The {4-Hearts} turn and {5-Clubs} river maintain the Landfish lead and he doubled up.

Andy Frankenberger Cripples Steve Landfish

Andy Frankenberger has just crippled Steve Landfish in the following hand.

Frankenberger raised to 51,000 in first position and Steve Landfish called in the big blind. The explosive flop was {J-Spades} {7-Clubs} {3-Hearts} and Landfish check-raised to 219,000 after Frankenberger had bet 35,000. The check-raise covered Frankenberger and after a short dwell time he made the call. Frankenberger turned over {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} and Landfish turned over {J-Diamonds} {8-Hearts}. The turn {2-Hearts} and river {10-Clubs} maintained Frankenberger's lead and he is now a serious threat with 11 players remaining. Meanwhile, Landfish has steam coming out of each ear!
