Devilfish Harpooned by Marafioti

Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliott
Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliott

On a flop of {A-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, Matt Marafioti bet 1,300 from big blind only to have David "Devilfish" Ulliott make it 5,500 from the button. Marafioti called and then led out for 5,000 when the {Q-Diamonds} appeared on the turn. Ulliott moved all in for a little more and Marafioti made the call:

Marafioti: {2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Ulliott: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

Marafioti had hit his flush on the turn to take the lead, but Ulliott had a redraw to the nut flush and a full house. Unfortunately for the Devilfish, the {4-Spades} blanked on the river and he was eliminated from the tournament.

Down and Up for Obrestad

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante
Annette Obrestad
Annette Obrestad

Annette Obrestad and Alan Meltzer have been mixing it up quite a bit today. In a recent hand, Meltzer found himself all in on a flop of {K-Spades}{10-Clubs}{3-Hearts} for 22,125 with {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} against the {K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} of Obrestad. Meltzer was in trouble but found deliverance when the {Q-Hearts} spiked on the turn. Unfortunately for Obrestad, the {6-Hearts} river changed nothing and she was left with just 7,950.

Not long after, Meltzer limped from the hijack and Obrestad did the same from the cutoff. Michael Binger then woke up with a raise to 1,200 from the button, which was enough to get Meltzer to fold; however, Obrestad pushed back to the tune of 3,150. Binger reraised enough to put his opponent all in and Obrestad made the call:

Binger: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}
Obrestad: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}

The board ran out an uneventful {4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and Obrestad doubled to to 15,000. Meanwhile, Binger took a hit down to 25,000.

Shorr Gets a KO, Negreanu Arrives

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

With the board reading {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, Shannon Shorr called another players all in. The all in player held the {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} but was drawing slim to Shorr's {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a flopped straight with a straight flush draw. The {8-Clubs} on the turn gave the all in player a couple more outs, but the {6-Spades} on the river was of no help and Shorr eliminated the other player.

Shorr now sits with around 65,000.

As we near the end of level four we just spotted Daniel Negreanu taking his seat. That seat, as it happens, is at table 121 which we mentioned earlier as having a number of well known pros.

Evdakov Doubles Up

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante
Nikolay Evdakov
Nikolay Evdakov

We missed how all the chips got in the middle, but Nikolay Evdakov just gave himself a little more breathing room after his {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} bested his opponent's {10-Hearts}{10-Spades} on a board reading {a-Hearts}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{a-Spades}.

After the hand Evdakov's stack sits at around 16,000.

Smith Gets a Boost

Level 4 : 150/300, 0 ante

With a board reading {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, a player on the button called a bet of 4,500 from Justin "Boosted J" Smith. When the {3-Spades} was put out on the river, Smith wasted little time in moving all in for his last 13,550. The button tanked for a good, long while before making the call. Smith rolled over {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and it was good as the button mucked.

Smith is up to 41,000.

Pilgrim vs. Laak

Action folded to Phil Laak in the cutoff and he opened for a standard raised. When it was Dwyte Pilgrim's turn to act, he reraised to 2,300, which Laak called. It was heads up to the {5-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop, inspiring Pilgrim to lead out for 3,100. Laak made the call as the dealer burned and turned the {J-Diamonds}.

Both players checked and watched as the {2-Diamonds} hit the river. Pilgrim fired out 6,500 and Laak decided to look him up. Pilgrim proudly showed {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} and the Unabomber could only muck.

Smith Holding On

Gavin Smith was sitting with around 6,700 when Davidi Kitai opened for 525 from the hijack. Smith made the call from the button and Jason Mercier came along for the ride from the small blind. After the {6-Clubs}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds} appeared on the flop, action checked to Smith and he bet 900. Both Mercier and Kitai gave up on the hand and allowed Smith to add a little to his already short stack.
