Nguyen's Trips Are Quite a Schock

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante

Mitch Schock has found himself on the wrong end of Sean Nguyen's trips to slip to just 140,000 in chips as the action continues nine-handed at this final table.

Schock opened with a raise out of the cutoff, but Nguyen three-bet it from the button, forcing the blinds out of the way before Schock called to go heads-up to a flop of {8-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}. Schock check-called Nguyen's bet after the flop, then check-called Nguyen on both the turn of the {Q-Hearts} and the river of the {9-Spades}.

Nguyen rolled over {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades} for flopped trips and Schock, naturally, was quite surprised. You thought we were going to say "shocked" didn't you? Dang it, we just did.

Nguyen's stack is looking a little healthier now, as he's up to 430,000 and change.

Laben Climbs Back Up

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante

John Myung has been nursing his stack for quite a while at this final table but we caught him in a hand with Craig Laben.

Myung raised from middle position and Laben called from the big blind. The flop ran out {6-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. Laben bet and Myung called. The turn brought the {4-Diamonds}. Laben led out again and Myung flat called.

The {q-Hearts} showed up on the river. Laben bet again and Myung called.

Laben flipped up {q-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for trip queens. He now sits with 330,000 chips and Myung dropped down to 150,000 in chips.

Sean Nguyen was involved in a hand when Mitch Schock raised pre flop, Nguyen three bet, Schock four bet, and Nguyen called.

The flop ran out {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}{k-Hearts}. Schock bet and Nguyen raised all in for his remaining chips. Schock called.

Nguyen: {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Schock: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

The turn came the {q-Hearts} and the river the {7-Diamonds}.

Make it a Double for Jamieson

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante

Thomas Jamieson has been relatively quiet at this final table, but he's just scored a double-up through Scott Clements to move back up to more than 250,000 in chips.

The action folded to Clements who flatted out of the cutoff, only to see Jamieson raise out of the small blind. Clements came back with a reraise, Jamieson four-bet it and Clements called before calling Jamieson's opening bet on the flop of {4-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

On the turn of the {3-Hearts}, Jamieson opened, Clements raised and then Jamieson called all-in, quickly showing {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} against Clements' {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}.

Needing any ace or king, the river was the {10-Clubs}, and we can safely say that that wasn't one of the six outs he was looking for. Clements is down to 243,000 in chips.

Laben's Laden With Chips

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante

Craig Laben is now on a rush of sorts, moving to 250,000 in chips after winning a pot off Scott Clements.

The action folded to Mitch Schock who raised from late position; he found two callers in the form of Laben from the cutoff, as well as Clements from the button, to make it three-handed to a flop that read {K-Hearts}{3-Spades}{K-Spades}.

All three players checked the flop, so it was off to the turn, which was the {K-Clubs}. Schock and Laben checked to Clements who bet, but Laben was the only caller, making it heads-up to the river of the {6-Diamonds}.

Laben checked, Clements bet again and Laben called, showing down {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for nothing but air, but it was better than Clements' {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}!

With that, Clements is down to 380,000 in chips.

Elsby Chips Up

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante

Matthew Elsby and Sean Nguyen were involved in a hand together when Elsby raised in late position. Nguyen three bet and Elsby called. The flop ran out {9-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. Elsby checked after the flop, Nguyen bet, Elsby raised, Nguyen three bet, and Elsby four bet.

The {8-Clubs} showed up on the turn. Elsby bet and Nguyen called. Elsby then moved all in dark before the river.

The river came the {j-Diamonds}. Nguyen folded and Elsby grew his stack to 250,000.

Laben Doubles Through Elsby

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante

Craig Laben has just scored a much-needed double-up in the first hand after the break, courtesy of Matthew Elsby.

Laben raised from early position and the action folded around to Elsby who reraised it from the blinds. Laben four-bet it, but Elsby came back with a five-bet. Laben called, leaving only 10,000 behind, which he threw in after Elsby checked to him on the flop of {2-Spades}{7-Spades}{J-Clubs}.

Elsby called, tabling {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}, with his overpair still ahead of Laben, who had hit top pair with {J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. To Elsby's disgust, the {8-Spades} spiked on the turn, and if that wasn't enough, a repeat {J-Hearts} appeared on the river to fill Laben up for the double-up.

Elsby is still shaking his head in disbelief as he looks down at his stack, now only worth 165,000 in chips.
