Hellmuth Hanging by a Thread

A massive ESPN entourage stormed through the Blue section of the Amazon Room, led by none other than 1989 WSOP Main Event champion Phil Hellmuth, who has just grinded his stack up to 15,000 in a recent hand on table 293.

Hellmuth raised to 2,700 before the flop and the action folded around to the player in the big blind, who called before both players checked down the flop of {3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}.

The big blind and Hellmuth also checked the turn of the {10-Clubs}, but when the dealer produced a {4-} on the river, the big blind check-folded to Hellmuth's bet of 4,100. Hellmuth flashed {3-}{3-} before raking in his chips.

A short time later, another player in middle position raised to 2,300 and Hellmuth called from the big blind before leading out for 2,900 on the flop of {5-Hearts}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs}. The middle position folded and Hellmuth showed {7-}{7-} before picking up the pot. Hellmuth is now up to 19,000 but still has plenty of work to do.
