E-Dog Cuts His Losses

Level 1 : 50/75, 0 ante

Erick Lindgren raised to 200 in middle position, and Daniel Alaei called from the button. The big blind defended, too, but he'd check-fold the flop.

It came {2-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {9-Clubs}, and the first two checked to Alaei. He bet 375, and Lindgren called to go heads up to the {A-Diamonds} turn. Check-check, and the {3-Spades} filled out the board on fifth street. Lindgren check-folded to a bet of 900, and Alaei works his stack back up just a bit. He's down to 12,500 from his full starting stack of 15,000. Lindgren has about 14,000 now.

Get Ready for Some Late Registrants

Level 1 : 50/75, 0 ante

Only four minutes remain in Level 1, meaning it'll be time for the first round of late registrants to take their seats. We've already spotted a few notables lingering around including Erik Seidel, Alan Sternberg, and Justin "Boosted J" Smith. Needless to say, the tournament is about to get a lot tougher.

ElkY Doubles One Up

Level 1 : 50/75, 0 ante

We didn't see all of the action, only walking up after the turn card on a {8-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {A-Clubs} board. Based on the positions, it looked like Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier had checked, then raised all in when his opponent bet. It was all 5,300 for his opponent to call, and he did so quickly.

ElkY showed {J-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {10-Spades} for queens up, but his opponent's {K-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {A-Spades} {Q-Spades} had turned the joint. There'd need to be a full house for ElkY to win the pot, but the river {7-Hearts} was a blank. Mr. Opponent still had two of his add-on lammers, so he's doubled back to about 23,000. ElkY was doing well early, and this loss knocks him back to a still-just-fine 16,500 chips.

Raymer vs. Chen

On a flop of {J-Spades}{3-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}, an under-the-gun player checked and Bill Chen bet 600 from the hijack. Greg Raymer was on the button and stared down his opponent, with hand over mouth of course, before making the call. The UTG player folded and it was heads up to the {K-Spades} turn.

Chen again bet 600, but this time Raymer pushed back with a raise to 2,100. Chen didn't take long to release his hand as Raymer raked in the pot.

The Shark Chops

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

We're not sure of the action, but a series of raises and reraises saw Humberto Brenes all in on a flop of {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}, though he had two rebuy chips behind, against an unknown opponent.

Brenes: {4-Spades}{5-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}
Opponent: {10-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{3-Spades}{7-Hearts}

The {5-Clubs} turn gave Brenes a full house, but also gave his opponent a qualifying low. The {3-Diamonds} river didn't change a thing, putting an end to all the excitement with a simple chop.
