Levy Gets Robbed

As we wandered by table 31 in the Pavillion's Black section, we bumped into a familiar face - that of 2007 APPT Main Event Champion Grant Levy, who has just taken a hit to his stack early.

The action folded around to the player in the cutoff who raised to 75 before the flop; Levy called from the small blind, as did the big blind, to make it three-handed to a flop of {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{A-Spades}. Levy and the big blind checked to the cutoff who opened for 200, but only Levy called, making it head-up to the turn of the {8-Diamonds}.

Levy check-called the cutoff's bet of 400, then after the dealer produced the {6-Hearts} on the river, Levy checked again to the cutoff, who fired out 1,025. Levy looked rather puzzled, but eventually elected to call, but the cutoff tabled {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades} for the straight against Levy's {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}.
