Montgomery Mounts Chip Charge

Scott Montgomery
Scott Montgomery

Limit Hold'em

Kevin Saul raised from early position and was quickly reraised by Scott Montgomery on his immediate left. Saul made the call and witnessed a {k-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop. Saul gave up trying to be the aggressor and checked allowing Montgomery to bet out. Saul made the call.

The {5-Hearts} on the turn brought another check from Saul and a bet from Montgomery. Saul then measured out enough chips to make a raise and took his time contemplating what it was he wanted to do. Ultimately though he folded and Montomgery was given the pot.

Fricke Bullying

No Limit Hold'em

Pieter De Korver made it 4,300 to go and was called by Jimmy Fricke from the big blind. The flop came {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Fricke checked. De Korver continued out with a bet of 6,500 and Fricke made the call.

The turn fell the {10-Hearts} and both players checked their option to see the {2-Diamonds} hit the river. Fricke counted out a stack of 14,500 and pushed it into the middle. De Korver folded and Fricke was awarded the pot.

Roller Coaster For Lane

No Limit Hold'em

We caught up to see Jonathan Lane calling the all in of another short stacked player before the flop. Lane was holding {4-Spades}{4-Clubs} against his opponent's {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}.

The board fell {10-Clubs}{3-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Lane pushed a double up the way of his short stacked opponent.

Cheong Update

Joseph Cheong has been our chip leader most of the day, but since we've come back from break it seems he's been involved in a series of hands that have been the cause of him losing more than half of what his stack was. He's currently sitting with around 110,000 in chips.

Lane Lining Up Chips

No Limit Hold'em

Johnathan Lane resided on the button and put out a raise after action had folded around to him. A player in the small blind then reraised to which Lane responded by moving all in. After three minutes or so Lane's opponent made the call. Lane's opponent had well over 70,000 in chips so by no means was this a small pot.

Lane: {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

The cards fell {7-Spades}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Spades} and with a five on the turn Lane was able to take down a massive pot and take his place among the chip leaders.

Another Lube Job?

Level 13

Mike Matusow busted out of the tournament before the dinner break, but while the players were on break, we happened to notice that Matusow had "tweeted" about his bust-out hand. At least, we think that's what he was tweeting about. The exact text from his tweet is below.

"I'm pit aqd vs Lak 3 6 l limit aplomb pre 5 blanks mom cash and another lube job"

The most humorous part of the tweet was the fact that Jimmy Fricke came over and actually read it out loud for us. Needless to say, it's even more funny to hear than it is to read.
