Rechnitzer Gets Low

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 2,000 ante

Mikhail Smirnov completed with a {7-}, and Gerard Rechnitzer came along with a {5-} and a short stack.

Smirnov: (X)(X) / {7-}{3-}{k-}{9-} / (X)
Rechnitzer: (X)(X) / {5-}{3-}{J-}{10-} / (X)

Both players checked fourth street, and Rechnitzer bet his lead on fifth. Smirnov called, and Rechnitzer let him bet on sixth before check-calling himself. On seventh, it went check-check again.

Rechnitzer showed {q-}{7-}{6-} / {5-}{3-}{J-}{10-} for the ten-low, but it was no good. Smirnov made sure, then tabled {8-}{2-}{a-} / {7-}{3-}{k-}{9-} for the eighty-seven perfect. It was good for the pot, and it's not good at all for Rechnitzer, down now to just 39,000 chips.
