Event #43: $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em
Day 1 Started
Hello all! We are back here at the Rio getting ready for the start of Event #43: $1,500 No-Limit Holdem. This is the fifth installment of the $1,500 buy in open events, and we are expecting another huge field today!
The most recent $1,500 tournament got just 2,192, and Arkadiy Tsinis and Michael Blanovsky are going to finish their heads-up match later on today. Given that today is a Saturday, we are expecting a field much bigger then that. So far this year, Andy Frankenberger, Kirk Caldwell, and Foster Hays have taken down the previous $1,500 events.
Play is going to get underway shortly, and they will be playing 10 levels today. After that, they will bag up for the night and return tomorrow. Stay tuned to Pokernews for all of you live updates, chip counts, and bustouts. Thanks for reading and be sure to check out the June 25th update from Kristy "The Poker Ninja" Arnett.

There has been a brief delay to the start of this event, as the WSOP had a distinguished guest saying a few words. Texas Congressman Joe Barton, who recently put through a bill to office that would work on the legislation of online poker, said a few words about the bill. He said that he hopes that this bill will be passed by the current Congress representativies, and that online poker will be back sooner rather then later. Let's hope he's right!
