Cortes Gets Rollercoaster Double Up

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Jesus Cortes found his final 214,000 in the middle preflop against Tristan Clemencon. Cortes held {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} against the {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{q-Spades}{q-Clubs} of Clemencon.

While the {9-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs} did not directly improve either hand, Clemencon now had a flush draw and still had four outs to make a set. Cortes also flopped an up and down straight draw.

The turn was a dagger to Cortes when it landed the {k-Diamonds} and he now needed a non-spade Ace, Seven or Deuce. And as a lesson to us all, and especially Clemencon, the Poker God's can giveth just as easily as they can taketh away. The {2-Hearts} river brought Cortes back into the lead just like that the 530,000 pot was shipped his way.
