Chiu-Chiu Stuck in Reverse

Jason Mecier did his standard min-raise to 80,000 under the gun, but this time David Chiu decided to use his positional advantage by putting in a reraise to 260,000. The blinds got out of the way, and after a moment's thought, Mercier made the call. With over 500,000 in the pot, it looked like things might get interesting.

Unfortunately, when the flop came down {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, Mercier bet pot and Chiu insta-mucked.

Merrifield & Mercier Out in Front!

Level 26 : 20,000/40,000, 0 ante

Just before the blinds ticked over into Level 26, Jason Mercier and Steven Merrifield both rocketed past two million in chips each.

Earlier, Joseph Ressler raised to 65,000 from the under the gun before the flop and found two callers in the form of David Chiu from the cutoff, as well as Mercier from the big blind to go three-handed to a flop that read {9-Hearts}{J-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

Mercier checked to Ressler who opened for 105,000. Chiu folded, but Mercier called, making it heads-up to the turn of the {K-Diamonds}, which they both checked. However, Mercier then check-called Ressler's bet of 225,00 on the river of the {A-Clubs}, tabling {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{5-Spades} for kings full against Ressler's {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} to scoop the pot.

A short time later, Hans Winzeler raised pre-flop from the cutoff and Merrifield called from the button before both players checked the flop of {2-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Winzeler then bet 205,000 on the turn of the {J-Spades}; Merrifield called and then both players checked the river {5-Diamonds}.

Merrifield showed down {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Winzeler flashed {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}{x-}{x-} before sending his hand into the muck. Merrifield is now close to 2.8 million while Mercier is a little under 2.02 million.

Mercier Gets Some Off Merrifield

Level 25 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante

Jason Mercier raised to 60,000 under the gun and was called by Steven Merrifield in the big blind. Both players checked the {6-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop, which was followed by the {K-Spades} turn. Merrifield led out for 90,000, Mercier called, and the {2-Clubs} appeared on the river.

This time Merrifield checked, Mercier bet 160,000, and it was Merrifield's turn to call. Mercier showed {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} for flush, which resulted in a Merrifield muck.

Mercier's Stack Reduced

Since having removed the towers of yellow T1,000 chips at the dinner break, it appears that Jason Mercier has lost some of his mojo with it, now down to 1.56 million after losing two pots in succession.

Earlier, Hans Winzeler raised to 75,000 from under the gun before the flop; Steven Merrifield called from the cutoff, as did Mercier from the button to make it three-handed to the flop of {7-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}.

Winzeler checked, Merrifield opened for 90,000 and Mercier called. Winzeler folded, but then Mericer also folded after Merrifield led out on the turn of the {K-Hearts}.

In the very next hand, Mercier opened for 60,000 from the button and David Chiu called from the small blind, but then both players checked all the way down the board of {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}. Chiu tabled {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Mercier mucked his hand.

Winzeler Gets Value

Joe Ressler raised to 75,000 and received a call from Hans Winzeler in the big blind. Both players checked the {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop, leading to the {6-Diamonds} turn. Winzeler took the opportunity to bet 100,000, Ressler called, and the {7-Clubs} appeared on the river.

Winzeler decided to lead out again, this time 300,000, and Ressler made the call. Winzeler revealed {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} for a queen-high flush, which was good enough to win the hand.
