Landfish in Trouble

Barry Greenstein raised from under the gun and Steve Landfish made the call from the big blind. Landfish then check-called a bet on the {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} flop, leading to the {7-Spades} on the turn. This time Landfish bet out, Greenstein raised, and Landfish smooth called.

Surprisingly, Landfish check-folded to a Greenstein bet when the {6-Hearts} rolled off on the river, leaving himself just 150,000.

Idema Doubles up Another

Daniel Idema
Daniel Idema

Daniel Idema raised in the cutoff and Steve Landfish three-bet from the small blind. Idema raised once more which put Landfish all in who called.

Landfish: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}
Idema: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}

Landfish was in good shape to double up and the {10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{2-Spades} was clean although it gave Idema some backdoor straight and flush outs to go along with the two remaining jacks. The {8-Clubs} on the turn gave Idema an open-ended straight draw and he could now eliminate Landfish with any seven, jack or queen. The river was the {6-Spades} though and Landfish survived as Idema doubled up another short-stack.

Greenstein Doubles Through Idema

It has been an up-and-down day for Barry Greenstein. Just now he raised under the gun only to have Daniel Idema three-bet from the button. The blinds folded, Greenstein made the call, and the flop fell {A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}.

Greenstein proceeded to check-raise Idema, who ended up making the call. When the {6-Clubs} was put out on the turn, Greenstein bet all in for 80,000, Idema called, and the cards were turned on their back.

Greenstein: {A-Spades}{8-Spades}
Idema: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

The {2-Hearts} river changed nothing and Greenstein doubled on the hand.

Ace on the Turn?

False Alarm: Berry Greenstein thought he was busting, but he doubled up.
False Alarm: Berry Greenstein thought he was busting, but he doubled up.

We found Barry Greenstein all in and at risk again Matthew Gallin on the {J-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop.

Gallin: {J-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Greenstein: {A-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

Greenstein, who famously signs a copy of his book, ‘Ace on the River’, to give to the opponent who busts him in each tournament, stood up from his chair and was about to sign and give Gallin his copy.

The turn was the {A-Diamonds} though and Greenstein got the ace that he needed, albeit on the turn to storm into the lead. The river came the {6-Diamonds} to double Greenstein up who sat back down with his book.

Landfish G-allin

An extremely short-stacked Steve Landfish raised in the cutoff and Matthew Gallin three-bet from the small blind. Landfish called all in and was at risk but in dominating position.

Landfish: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}
Gallin: {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

The board ran out {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{5-Spades} and was clean for Landfish to double up.

Landfish Freefalling

Steve Landfish raised from the cutoff and received a call from Daniel Idema in the big blind. It went check-bet-raise-call on the {A-Spades}{3-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flop, which was followed by a bet and call on the {10-Clubs} turn. The same action occurred on the {2-Spades} river and Idema showed {A-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for a flopped two pair. Landfish was clearly frustrated as he tossed his cards in the muck, leaving himself 580,000 behind.

In the very next hand, Landfish raised from the cutoff and was met with a three-bet from Barry Greenstein in the cutoff. The blinds folded, Landfish four-bet, and Greenstein made the call. Landfish bet the {2-Spades}{Q-Spades}{10-Spades} flop, Greenstein just called, and the dealer burned and turned the {2-Clubs}.

Again Landfish bet and Greenstein called off his last 60,000. Greenstein showed {A-Spades}{K-Spades} for the flopped flush, while Landfish was in need of a deuce or seven with his {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. The {3-Spades} river was close to a deuce, but not close enough. Landfish was left with just 310,000 after the hand.

Justin Smith Eliminated in 6th Place ($71,897)

Justin "Boosted J" Smith is eliminated in 6th place by Barry Greenstein.
Justin "Boosted J" Smith is eliminated in 6th place by Barry Greenstein.

It was folded around to a severely short-stacked Justin Smith in the small blind who moved all in. Barry Greenstein called in the big with a chance to take out the player who he had just doubled through twice before.

Greenstein: {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}
Smith: {8-Spades}{5-Hearts}

The {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop gave Smith an inside-straight draw to go along with his two live cards. The {10-Spades} turn and {7-Spades} river were of no help to Smith however and he was eliminated from the tournament.
