Black Doubles Up Opponent

Level 2 : 25/50, 0 ante

On a board of {5-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} Andy Black made a bet only to find his opponent raise all in. Black made the call.

"You got a set?" his opponent said.

"Nope, just a draw" Black replied.

Black: {9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Spades}
Opponent: {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades}

The river came {J-Diamonds}, missing Black's draw and allowing his opponent's two pair to be good for a double up. Black is now sitting around 1,900.

His opponent held the {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for an overpair and a straight draw. Lawson's opponent also held top pair.

The turn was the {3-Diamonds} and the river the {2-Hearts}, which kept Lawson's kings in front and allowed him to move to 6,500 in chips.

Chiu Chips Up

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

After a raise preflop and checks around on the flop, action checked to David Chiu on a board reading {3-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}. Chiu fired a bet of 400 and was called by one player while the player in the small blind folded his cards. The river came {J-Spades} and the action went check-check.

Chiu tabled {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs} making his aces and jacks with a ten kicker good enough to scoop the pot. Chiu is currently sitting at about 6,300 in chips.

From the button, David Benyamine called the raise of 350 from a middle position player. The flop came {5-Spades}{K-Spades}{J-Hearts} and Benyamine's opponent tossed out a bet of 1,000. This bet had Benyamine covered and he made the call for his tournament life.

Big Flop for Johnston

Rob Hollink limped in from early position, Eddie Ochana limped from the cutoff seat, Max Pescatori limped from the button and then Berry Johnston raised to 400 from the small blind. Jason Mercier called from the big blind and then all three limpers called.

The flop was {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} with 2,000 chips in the middle. Johnston was up first and fired all in for 1,000. Mercier folded and then Hollink reraised the pot to 5,000. His raise knocked Ochana and Pescatori out of the pot and Hollink got heads up with the at-risk Johnston.

Johnston held the {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a flush draw and straight draw along with a pair of eights. Hollink held the {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades} for top two pair.

The turn was the {Q-Clubs}, which gave Johnston a straight. It also gave him two pair which helped against Hollink's hand as Hollink could no longer hit an eight to make a full house. The river completed the board with the {K-Clubs} and Johnston was able to win the pot more than double up.

Pickering Picks One Up

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

Action folded to one of the lovely PokerNews video hostesses Nicki Pickering in the cutoff seat. She limped in before action was on Kevin Saul on the button. Saul raised to 325. The small blind called, the big blind folded and then Pickering called.

The flop came down {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and everyone checked to see the {8-Clubs} fall on the turn. Action checked to Saul on fourth street and he bet 550. The small blind called and then Pickering called.

The {8-Diamonds} on the river paired the board and the small blind checked. After he did so, Pickering moved all in for 1,250. Saul folded and then the small blind followed suit, allowing Pickering to pick up the pot and move to 5,475.

Brikis Bricks Out

Level 3 : 50/100, 0 ante

Josh Brikis was all in preflop for his last 1,225 from his first bullet in this event. He had two callers, Matt Stout and Oliver Gill. Gill and Stout still had chips left and Gill would have to act first post flop.

The flop came down {9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Gill checked. Stout potted to put himself all in and Gill folded. Stout showed the {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. Brikis held the {A-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Spades}.

The turn brought the {10-Spades} to give Brikis even more outs, but the {8-Hearts} fell on the river and completely missed him. Brikis lost the pot and tossed in his two remaining rebuy/add-on chips to jump back to 3,000. Stout has 10,000 and Gill has 5,600 after the hand.
