Sands Scores A Double With Nut Flush

Level 23 : 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

After the action folded around to David Sands in the small blind, he raised to 72,000 and Emil Patel came along for the ride. The flop fell {7-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and Sands led out for a pot-sized bet of 144,000. Patel sized up Sands' remaining chips and quietly said "re-pot" to force Sands all-in.

Sands made the call and turned over the {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} for a pair of aces and the nut flush draw. Patel held {10-Clubs}{J-Spades}{7-Hearts}{K-Clubs} for two-pair and a gutshot draw.

Turn: {6-Diamonds}

When Sands completed his nut flush the tournament announcer declared that he had doubled-up but Sands quickly reminded him that the hand was not yet over. Patel could still fill up with a jack or a seven on the river. When the river came {10-Spades} Sands exhaled and sat back down, jokingly remarking that "a boat there would've been a hell of a jinx." Sands doubled up to approximately 500,000 chips while the chip leader Patel took a slight dip.

Rafe Kibrit raised to 52,000 from the button and got calls from both players in the blinds. Elie Payan called from the small blind and Stephen Wolfe called from the big blind.

The flop came down {10-Hearts}{5-Spades}{4-Spades} and action checked around to see the {10-Spades} pair the board on the turn. Payan checked and Wolfe bet 85,000. Kibrit folded and Payan called.

The river was the {A-Spades} and Payan paused before firing out 254,000. Wolfe instantly mucked his hand and Payan won the pot.

Rafe's Reraise Pushes Payan Off His Hand

Rafe Kibrit raised to 52,000 on his button and Elie Payan made the call from the small blind. The dealer flopped {9-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and Payan checked it, prompting a bet of 86,000 by Kibrit.

Payan came along and the turn card fell {A-Spades}. After a moment of study, Payan decided he liked the previous bet and fired his own 86,000 into the middle. Kibrit decided to peel one off and called, bringing the {J-Spades} to the board.

The Frenchman known as "Punisher934" online slowly stacked a bet of 306,000 and slid it forward, but when he heard Kibrit announce "raise the pot," Payan mucked his cards. This misstep cost Payan 530,000 chips and Kibrit built his stack to nearly 2,000,000 with the power play.
