River Drowns Rubin

Massimiliano Martinez raised under the gun only to have Paul Rubin three-bet from the cutoff. William Kakon then four-bet from the button, Joe Gualtieri called from the small blind, and the other two raises came along for the ride. Action checked to Rubin and he put out a bet, which Kakon quickly raised.

Gualtieri folded, after a clock had been called on him, as did Martinez. A call would cost Rubin the rest of his chips, and that is exactly what he did.

Kakov: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Rubin: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Rubin was out in front with a flopped set and in great shape to more than double. The {A-Spades} brought him one step closer, but the {10-Clubs} on the river quickly shattered his WSOP dreams. Kakon scooped the pot as Rubin was eliminated in 34th place ($4,743).
