Newburger Triumphs in Three-Way All In

Level 8 : 300/600, 0 ante

We caught up with the action in time to see a three-way all in between Jason Newburger and two other opponents.

Newburger: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Opponent 1: {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
Opponent 2: {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}

With all three players holding pocket pairs, the second opponent was looking to dodge two eights and two threes as the board fell. Fortunately for Newburger, the flop came {9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, flopping him a full house and jetting him out to the lead in this hand. The turn and river bricked out for his opponents, coming {6-Spades} and {Q-Diamonds}, leaving Newburger to scoop a pot that brought him up to 50,000.

Young Phan Eliminated

Young Phan

Young Phan was all in with the {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs} and up against an opponent's {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}. The flop came down {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Phan needed to stay out of the way of diamonds now as his opponent picked up a flush draw.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and that nailed the flush for Phan's opponent. The river completed the board with the {3-Spades} and couldn't save Phan with a full house, eliminating him from the tournament.

Racener Sits, Doubles, Leaves

Level 9 : 400/800, 0 ante

John Racener has been moving back and forth between this event and the $3,000 Limit Hold'em event to good results so far.

A few hands after break ended, we caught up with Racener in a hand where he had opened for 2,300 preflop from the hi-jack position. The player on the button re-raised to 10,000 and Racener responded by going all-in for his remaining stack - about 20,000 total. His opponent called.

Racener: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{9-Spades}

The board ran out {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{5-Spades}, giving Racener the winning hand with a full-house.

Racener stacked his pile of chips worth a bit over 50,000 and left to go play in the Limit event for a while.

Jacks for Eslami

Ali Eslami and Steve O'Dwyer were in action on the {K-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Spades} flop with Eslami to act first. He checked and O'Dwyer bet 4,100. Eslami made the call.

The turn brought the {10-Spades} and both players checked. The river completed the board with the {10-Diamonds} and both players checked again.

Eslami tabled the {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} for jacks and tens and O'Dwyer mucked his hand.

Angelil Folds to Dolan

Rene Angelil raised from middle position to 1,800 and John Dolan called from the button. The flop came down paired with the dealer spreading the {7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{5-Spades} in the middle of the felt. Angelil fired 3,000 and Dolan made the call.

After the {10-Hearts} hit on fourth street, Angelil opted to slow down with a check. Dolan seized the opportunity and bet 4,500. He got a rather quick and easy fold from Angelil and was able to pick up the pot to increase his stack.
