Veldhuis Busted Draw Vs. Draw

Level 4 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Lex Veldhuis
Lex Veldhuis

We came to Lex Veldhuis's table with him all in for 20,000 with the flop reading {6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. His opponent Benoit Albiges was debating whether to call or not, telling Veldhuis, "If you could see my cards, you would want me to call." He talked himself into it, and Veldhuis was surprised to see the hand he had been called by.

Veldhuis: {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Albiges: {a-Spades}{4-Spades}

Both players were on draws, but Albiges had the better hand at the moment. That hand improved when the turn came the {2-Clubs}, and Veldhuis needed a four or nine to win. The river came the {7-Clubs}, and Veldhuis got up from the table, shaking his head with a puzzled look on his face. Albiges scooped the pot, knocking out the always dangerous Dutchman.
