Day 3 Awaits

David Assouline
David Assouline

Everyone rested up? Ready to go? Ready or not, here it comes.

In about a half an hour, cards will go in the air for Day 3 of the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event. Today everyone plays, as all of the separate flights from the first two days of play will be consolidated for the first time.

A total of 2,557 players from the starting field of 7,319 have made it through to today's third day of play. All have already fought their way through 17 hours of poker to get to this point, but there's a long way to go even to make the cash. The top 747 spots pay, so the great majority of those still alive are not even going to make the $19,263 those first cashers will be receiving.

All still with chips continue to harbor hopes for that $8,944,138 first prize, though. David Assouline returns to the biggest stack of all of them with 387,800, heading a small group of players who have already crossed the 300,000-chip mark. Other notables with lots of chips to start today include Jesper Hougaard, Jim "Mr_BigQueso" Collopy, Cole South, Jon "Apestyles" Van Fleet, Johnny Chan, Vanessa Selbst, Marco Johnson, Dragan Galic, Bryn Kenney, Patrik Antonius, Matthew Hilger, Archie Karas, and Yevgeniy Timoshenko.

See you back here at noon local time when the action begins!
