Hand #118: Joseph Cheong

John Dolan has the button in Seat 3.

Joseph Cheong is first into the pot with a minimum-raise to 2 million. Michael Mizrachi, the big blind is the only caller.

Both players check a flop of {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. When the turn comes the third heart, {k-Hearts}, Mizrachi bets 3 million. Cheong calls to the {9-Clubs} river, a card that both players check. At showdown Cheong takes the pot with {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}, playing the board pair of 9s with ace-high. Mizrachi does not show.

Jason Senti - 7th Place
Jason Senti - 7th Place

Joseph Cheong has the button in Seat 2.

Action folds to Jason Senti and he raises to 1.85 million from the cutoff seat. Cheong reraises from the button to 4.95 million. After the blinds fold, Senti moves all in and Cheong quickly makes the call.

Cheong: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Senti: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

The flop comes down {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} and Senti storms to the lead as his cheering sections erupts.

The turn brings the {J-Diamonds}, leaving Cheong needing to hit a nine or a ten to win the hand.

The river is dealt the {9-Diamonds} and Cheong hits a straight and smashes Senti from this tournament in seventh place. His fans chant his name loud and proud as he leaves the stage area with a prize of $1,356,720.

Hand #113: Joseph Cheong

John Racener has the button in Seat 7.

Joseph Cheong opens under the gun with a raise for what looks like a mini-raise to 1.6 million (but we couldn't tell for sure). Without missing a beat, Jonathan Duhamel reraises to 4.175 million. Michael Mizrachi gives it some thought before eventually passing, and the decision comes back around to Cheong. It's his turn to move now, shoving all in for 19.65 million on top. Duhamel gives it a cursory look but he can't call, returning his cards to the muck and sending a nice preflop pot to Cheong.

Filippo Candio
Filippo Candio

Michael Mizrachi has the button in Seat 5.

Action folds around to Jonathan Duhamel and he raises to 1.75 million. John Racener makes the call from the small blind and then Filippo Candio calls from the big blind.

The flop comes down {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{5-Spades} between the three players and action checks to Duhamel. He bets 2.15 million. Racener makes the call. Candio raises all in for 20.125 million. Duhamel folds and Racener begins to tank. He turns his head to stare right at Candio and studies him up and down. Finally, Racener folds and Candio scoops the pot.
