Grinder On The Draw

Michael Mizrachi has taken a small hit after doubling up a short-stacked opponent when his last chips went into the middle on a flop of {A-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{9-Spades}.

Mizrachi was drawing with {K-Spades}{J-Spades} and would need to connect to get past his opponent's {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}.

The {6-Hearts} on the turn was no help as the river also bricked the {3-Diamonds}. Mizrachi slips to 85,000.

Baldwin Booming

With about 2,000 already in the pot, the flop came down {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{8-Spades}. A middle position player led out for 1,350 and Bobby Baldwin called. Both players checked the {8-Clubs} on the turn. The river was the {Q-Hearts} and the action was checked to Baldwin. He checked behind.

"I play the board," the middle position player said.

Baldwin had {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} for two pair and took it down. He's up to 47,000.

Marion's Heating Up!

With exactly 6,150 in the pot and the flop reading {4-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, the big blind checked as a player fired out 3,500.

With the action on Shawn 'Matrix' Marion, he casually tossed in two orange 5,000-denomination chips while loudly announcing, "Ten thousand!"

The big blind instantly folded as the flop aggressor paused slightly before tossing his cards into the muck also.

Marion tabled his {6-Spades}{5-Clubs} for a flopped straight and collected the pot to move to a rather coincidental (since he played for the Phoenix Suns for a number of seasons as #31) 31,000 in chips.

Johnston Takes One Out

On the flop of {8-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}, Berry Johnston fired out a bet and his opponent raised. Johnston moved all in and had his opponent covered. The player tanked for a minute or two and then committed the rest of his chips to the pot. He held two red nines and Johnston the {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}.

The turn was the {J-Diamonds} and the river the {4-Spades}, keeping Johnston in the lead and moving him up to 42,000 in chips.

Seiver Misses Setup

Scott Seiver and his opponent both checked the flop of {Q-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Clubs} as the free {7-Diamonds} hit the turn. Seiver checked and his opponent bet 900. Seiver made the call.

The river was the {9-Spades} and Seiver checked again hoping for a little action but his opponent checked behind. Seiver sighed and showed {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for a rivered set. He's up to 48,000.

Bichon Bests busto_soon

This is what happens when two Euros get heads up in a pot. Buckle up.

Thomas Bichon raised to 750 preflop, and Johan "busto_soon" van Til called out of the blinds. The flop came out {a-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, and van Til checked. Bichon bet 925, and van Til swiftly check-raised to 2,400. Bichon wasn't going to back down to a silly little check-raise. Instead, he three-bet to 5,800.

But busto_soon didn't get to be busto_soon by folding, and certainly not by calling, so he snap put Bichon all in. Thomas made the call for 14,600. So who had the ace? No one? At least a pair? Not so much.

Bichon: {j-Spades}{8-Spades} for jack-high and a flush draw
Van Til: {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for five-high and a gutshot

The {q-Diamonds} was a brick, and the {8-Hearts} paired Bichon, so he doubled up to 43,000. Van Til was left with 32,000.

Plenty of Chips for McGowan

Kevin McGowan giving stack envy.
Kevin McGowan giving stack envy.

Kevin McGowan opened to 1,100 from early position to pick up the 450 in blinds.

The following hand he opened to 1,100 from under the gun, but this time was met with a 2,500 three-bet. McGowan called and then took the pot down after firing out 3,000 on the {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop.

Why are these hands so blog-worthy?

With these two consecutive pots, it takes McGowan to over the 140,000 chip-mark as he currently sits with 142,500 in chips.

Moneymaker Drops Back Some More

Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

2003 Main Event champion Chris Moneymaker is back down to 33,000 after being unable to beat pocket kings. On the turn of a fairly innocuous board, {4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{5-Spades}, Moneymaker checked to his opponent -- the same player that earlier bluffed Moneymaker off of aces. That player bet 1,500, then called a large check-raise to 6,500 from Moneymaker. Both players checked the {10-Spades} river, where the {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} of Moneymaker's opponent collected the pot.

Threes Good for O'Shea

John O'Shea raised from under the gun to 850 and was called by the player on the button. The first three community cards came down {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and both players checked.

The turn added the {7-Hearts} to the board and both players checked again. The {6-Spades} fell on the river and O'Shea checked. His opponent fired 1,200 and O'Shea made the call.

O'Shea tabled the {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and it was good, moving him up to 29,000 in chips.
