Kelly Killin' It (Again)

No-Limit

Steven Kelly was on the stage earlier this afternoon to receive his bracelet for winning Event #39, the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout late last night. Just before the ceremony, Kelly stopped by our desk to ask about whether or not the presentation would last beyond the first break. He was concerned, see, because he had business to attend to here in Event #44.

We assured him that the tourney wouldn't restart until the ceremony ended, and he thus was able to enjoy the presentation and playing of the U.S. national anthem without fretting over getting back to his stack.

Since then, Kelly gradually added to that stack all afternoon and early evening. Just now he was involved in a hand versus Tim Vansant in which he opened for 900 from middle position and Vansant called from the big blind. The pair checked down the {5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{8-Spades}{J-Spades}{6-Clubs} board, Kelly showed {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} which was good, and he dragged the small pot.

He's now our new chip leader with 71,000, working on bracelet number two.
