Chen Misses Monster Draw But Wins Anyway

Hold'em

Bill Chen raised it up from the button and Phil Ivey defended with a call in the big blind.

The flop landed {8-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and Ivey check-called the bet from Chen. The {10-Clubs} hit the turn and Ivey decided to lead out. Chen made the call and the {3-Spades} hit the river.

Ivey checked and Chen quickly checked behind tabling {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a busted straight-flush draw, that ended with a lonely pair of nines. It was enough as Ivey tossed his cards into the muck.

Ivey is down to 180,000 with Chen approaching 700,000.
