West Smacks a Straight Flush Against Hollink

Pot-Limit Omaha

When we got to the table, Rob Hollink was jamming his chips into the middle against Tim West and one other player in a hand of pot-limit Omaha. Here's what the hands were.

Hollink: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{K-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}
West: {Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Opponent: {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

The flop was a very interesting one when it came down {J-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Everyone was left with a piece of it in some way while West pulled to the front with two pair, jacks and tens.

The turn card was the {5-Hearts} and it was still West's pot with two pair.

The river completed the board with the {9-Spades} and at first glance it looked like Hollink spiked his spade flush. Wait one minute though! West held the {Q-Spades}{8-Spades} in his hand and smacked the one spade that could give him the pot. With the {9-Spades} falling, West hit a straight flush and won the entire pot.

West was all in for 8,075 and doubled up through Hollink while the other player was eliminated (he only had a few hundred chips). Hollink dropped to about 8,700 in chips.
