Just as I was about to publish a post highlighting the gargantuan 1.5-2 million stack of Samuel Paolini, he suddenly finds his stack demolished after tangling with his replacement chip leader, Aadam Daya, in what was the biggest pot of the tournament thus far.
It was Paolini who kick-started the action, making a standard preflop raise to around the 75,000 mark from middle position. Daya made the call in the cut-off leading to a 
flop where both players checked.
On the 
turn, Paolini led for 110,000, only for Daya to bump it up to 375,000. After a brief dwell, Paolini made the call.
The river was a 
- "Not exactly a blank," observed Neil Channing sarcastically from the rail - and Paolini opted to check. Daya, however, was less hospitable, sliding precisely 500,000 across the felt, which pretty much accounted for his remaining stack. Paolini sighed and sat back his chair before eventually making the call. "Nice hand," he commended dejectedly as Daya revealed 
for the turned set and rivered boat.
I once spotted Daya playing £10/20 in the Vic, so he's obviously played a few 'big' pots in his time, but even he knew the importance of this one, blowing out his cheeks with relief as the adrenalin continued to pump through his body. He now has 2,200,000 and smile that would take a crowbar and tub of Vaseline to remove.
