Ivey Set Up, Spiked Out

Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Kenny Hsiung was the first raiser preflop, and Phil Ivey made it three bets to go. Brock Parker promptly four-bet it, and Hsiung went ahead and capped it at 20,000 preflop. Both Ivey and Parker put in the calls to go to an expensive flop.

It came down {10-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {7-Hearts}, and Parker checked from the small blind. Hsiung bet, and Ivey made the call to put himself all in. Parker called as well.

That put them onto the {2-Diamonds} turn, and Parker check-raised this time, with Hsiung calling the extra bet. The river {4-Clubs} filled out the board, and Hsiung called one more bet from Parker. Cards up, gents:

Parker: {7-Clubs} {7-Spades}
Hsiung: MUCK
Ivey: {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds}

Ivey's nines looked good preflop, but Parker's set of sevens was hard to beat, and he has eliminated Mr. Ivey from our event. That moves him up to 195,000 in the process, while Hsiung takes a step back to about 175,000.
