Keikoan Pushing Chips

Daniel Idema raised from the button, and Matt Keikoan called to see a flop.

It came {6-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {7-Clubs}, and Keikoan check-raised. Idema put in the second bet, and that brought them to the {8-Spades} turn. Keikoan bet and was called, and he bet again on the {A-Hearts} river. Idema could not call this time, and he let his cards go into the muck.

Keikoan - 1,700,000
Idema - 3,430,000

Tension Rising

For the first time all tournament, Matt Keikoan looks visibly frustrated. Typically a guy who neither says much nor emotes a whole lot at the table, he's been grimacing and sighing his way through the last few hands as his stack continues to dwindle in the face of Idema's relentless aggression.

Keikoan is down to about a million in chips while Idema is sitting on 4.1 million.

Keikoan Takes it With Top Pair

Idema opened for a raise from the button, Idema reraised and Keikoan called.

Idema bet out on the {K-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop and Keikoan called. Idema fired again when the {6-Diamonds} hit the turn, earning a call. The river was the {10-Clubs} and Keikoan called Idema's lead bet.

Keikoan showed king-nine for top pair, besting Idema's ten-eight for a rivered pair of tens.

Another to Keikoan

Daniel Idema raised from the button, and Matt Keikoan called from the big blind.

They took a flop of {K-Spades} {8-Spades} {J-Hearts} and check-checked to the {J-Diamonds} turn. Keikoan bet that card, and Idema called. The {A-Diamonds} on the river drew another bet from Keikoan, and Idema tank-called.

Keikoan turned up {Q-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}, and that's not the type of hand a tank-caller can often beat. Indeed, Idema's cards hit the muck, and Keikoan is working his way back into this match again.

Keikoan - 1.9 million
Idema - 3.2 million

How About Another Three Hands?

Our plans for five more hands were foiled when the floor supervisor shift-change happened right in the middle of the fourth one, leaving the hand unannounced, but we still have three for you.

1. Idema raised the button and Keikoan called. Keikoan check-raised the {9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop and Idema called. Keikoan led at the {10-Hearts} on the turn and Idema folded.

2. Keikoan raised and Idema called. The flop was {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Idema check-folded to Keikoan's bet.

3. Idema raised and Keikoan called. Keikoan check-called on the {8-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop. Keikoan check-called again when the {5-Spades} hit the turn. The river was the {Q-Diamonds} and surprisingly, Idema bet out of turn.

"I didn't do anything yet," Keikoan said, as Idema's bet was pulled back. Keikoan bet out and Idema folded.

Playing Through It

We've come to the end of two levels, and that's normally time for a break. These two guys want to play on though, so we're blasting right off into the next level.

Evening the Score

Daniel Idema raised from the button, and Matt Keikoan called from the big blind.

The flop came out {5-Hearts} {9-Spades} {J-Hearts}, and Keikoan check-called a bet. He did that again when the turn came the {8-Diamonds}, and the scary {Q-Hearts} filled out the board on fifth street. Keikoan took that opportunity to fire out a leading bet of 160,000, and Idema didn't waste too much time letting his hand go.

It's very close, but that pot appears to have pushed Keikoan into a very narrow chip lead. Both men are right around 2.6 million now.

Keikoan Barreling

Matt Keikoan raised from the button, and Daniel Idema called in the big blind.

The flop came out {K-Spades} {8-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}, and Idema check-called a bet. He check-called another one on the {4-Clubs} river, and Keikoan fired a third bullet on the {5-Hearts} river. Idema gritted his teeth and shook his head, and he eventually released his hand into the muck.

Keikoan - 2.4 million
Idema - 2.7 million
