Mortensen on the Brink; Kessler Eliminated

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth is trying to grind it out here in Event 25. On the turn of a {3-Clubs} {4-Spades} {k-Clubs} {7-Clubs} board, he bet after Carlos Mortensen checked. Mortensen called, then checked and called another bet on the {8-Diamonds} river.

"Nut-nut," said Hellmuth. He opened {a-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}, the nut flush and the nut low. Mortensen mucked and slipped to 16,000. Hellmuth is up to 78,000.

On a different table, Allen Kessler was recently eliminated. Looks like he'll be paying off that last-longer bet to Jean Robert Bellande.
