James Dempsey
James Dempsey

Toto Leonidas raised form middle position, Michael Jarmark called from the button and then James Dempsey called from the big blind. The flop came down {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Dempsey checked. Leonidas bet and then Jarmark raised. Dempsey reraised and then Leonidas folded. Jarmark called.

The turn brought the {2-Hearts} and Dempsey fired. Jarmark made the call before the {10-Spades} fell on the river. Dempsey bet again and Jarmark made the call.

Dempsey tabled the {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for the nut flush in hearts and Jarmark mucked his hand. Jarmark dropped down to about 115,000 and Dempsey increased to 200,000.

Hellmuth on Life Support

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

It's not looking good for Phil Hellmuth to add another WSOP cash to his record. He three-bet two hands in a row pre-flop and wound up losing them both. First, his three-bet from the small blind was called by Michael how, Chino Rheem and Oleg Shamardin. Hellmuth folded on the turn of a {j-Spades} {3-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {q-Spades} {4-Diamonds} board. Chow eventually dragged the pot with a single uncalled bet on the river, then remarked that he had the nut-nut. His comment prompted Hellmuth to mutter and wonder how Chow could even have been in the hand pre-flop.

The very next hand, Hellmuth three-bet from the button and remarked, "Watch out, I might be tilting, three-betting two hands in a row." He eventually lost the pot to Jose de Paz, who rivered a better two pair on a board of {q-Spades} {k-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} with {k-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {a-Hearts} {4-Clubs} against Hellmuth's flopped two pair with {a-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {4-Spades} {k-Clubs}. The predictable Hellmuthian rage followed.

Hellmuth has 10,000.

Bellande Cruising Now

Jean-Robert Bellande
Jean-Robert Bellande

Steve Wong raised and then Jean-Robert Bellande reraised. Wong made the call. After the flop came down {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}, Wong checked and Bellande bet. Wong made the call.

The turn brought the {K-Clubs} and Wong check-called again. The river completed the board with the {A-Spades} and Wong checked. Bellande bet out and Wong double checked his hand. He tossed all four cards into the muck and Bellande scooped the pot to move to 355,000 in chips while Wong slipped to 100,000.

Bellande was then able to chip up in the next couple of hands as well to move to 418,000 in chips.

Hellmuth, Tony G, Leonidas Eliminated

Phil Hellmuth is out as we approach the money bubble and he may soon be joined by Tony G. Hellmuth's undoing came in two quick hands.

First, in a battle of the blinds, Sam Farha raised pre-flop from the small blind and Hellmuth called from the big blind. Hellmuth called additional bets on the flop and turn before getting to check behind on the river. Hellmuth mucked his hand on a board of {10-Diamonds} {q-Spades} {6-Hearts} {j-Clubs} {j-Hearts} after Farha showed down {k-Clubs} {k-Hearts} {7-Clubs} {5-Clubs} for two pair, kings and jacks.

That hand left Hellmuth with 60,000 chips. A short time later, he busted in a hand that crippled Tony G. They were involved in a four-way pot with Chino Rheem and Sam Farha. By the time the river came down, Rheem's {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {5-Clubs} was best both ay on a board of {k-Spades} {5-Hearts} {5-Spades} {k-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}.

Tony G was left with just 8,000 chips. He busted a few hands later, as did Toto Leonidas.

The Leonidas Elimination Hand

As we just mentioned, Toto Leonidas has busted from the tournament. Here's the skinny on how it went down.

Leonidas was all in on the flop of {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} against "Miami" John Cernuto. Leonidas held the {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts} against the {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades} of Cernuto. The turn brought the {Q-Clubs} and the river the {2-Hearts} and Cernuto held the best hand with queens and nines. Leonidas was out of chips and out the door while Cernuto moved up to 370,000 chips.

Bakes Full Against Bellande

David Baker is riding high with 270,000 chips after flopping a full house against Jean-Robert Bellande. Bellande bet a {q-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {5-Spades} flop and was called in position by Baker. Bellande then check-raised the {6-Diamonds} turn, only to see Baker re-raise. Bellande called that bet and check-called one more on the {9-Spades} river. At showdown, Baker showed queens full of fives, {a-Hearts} {a-Diamonds} {q-Hearts} {q-Diamonds}. He dragged the pot.

"Five and a low draw," said Bellande. No good, Bobby.

Chop, Chop Between Bellande and Kabbaj

Jean-Robert Bellande raised and then John Kabbaj reraised. Bellande made the call and the two were off to a flop of {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. Bellande checked, Kabbaj bet and Bellande called.

The turn card added the {4-Spades} to the board and both players checked. The river card was the {4-Diamonds} and Bellande bet out. Kabbaj raised to then Bellande called.

Kabbaj tabled the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for a wheel. He wound up with only the low as Bellande tabled the {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} for a full house.

Wong Catches a Great River to Scoop Bellande

Eugene Katchalov has been all in several times. So far he's defying death. He was called by Steve Wong and Jean Robert Bellande in his most recent all in. On a flop of {5-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {8-Clubs} Wong bet and Bellande called. Wong check-called a bet on the {q-Diamonds} turn, then led the {10-Spades} river. Bellande made a crying call and couldn't beat Wong's queen-high straight, {a-Spades} {j-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {7-Spades}. That hand chopped with Katchalov's {j-Spades} {3-Spades} {7-Hearts} {6-Hearts} for the main pot.

Katchalov has 25,000. Wong has 235,000, and Bellande has 260,000.
