Happy Gilmore

Peter Gilmore
Peter Gilmore

David Benefield opened the pot to 95,000 under the gun, and Jason DeWitt three-bet to 240,000 from the cutoff seat. Next door, Peter Gilmore promptly moved all in for a total of 890,000. That folded Benefield and sent DeWitt deep into the tank.

It had to be six or seven minutes of tank time, long enough that the entire rail stood up, sat down, and stood back up again. Even Jeff Williams stood up from his chair with that 'who's going to call the clock?' look on his face.

"Will you fold If I show? Errr, I mean will you show if I fold?" DeWitt asked clumsily. Gilmore simply shrugged as he stood behind his chair, sipping his water. He leaned down and double-checked his hole cards as if he'd forgotten what he shoved with.

Finally, after a lengthy stare at his opponent, DeWitt made the call to put Gilmore at risk.

Showdown
DeWitt: {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}
Gilmore: {A-Spades} {K-Spades}

DeWitt was on the other end of this same flip when he doubled up Benefield just a short while ago, and this flip couldn't go well for him either.

The flop came a troublesome {7-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} to pull Gilmore into a big lead with two to come. The {A-Diamonds} on the turn was actually a good card for DeWitt as it gave him another four outs to catch a winning gutshot. The river {5-Diamonds} was a brick, though, and that spells a big double for Gilmore.

He's up to 1.7 million, dropping the up-and-down DeWitt back down to 1.13 million.
