Mercier Busts Barbero
We joined the action on the flop in a heads-up pot with about 1,800 chips in the middle preflop. The dealer rolled out to kick off the board, and Nacho Barbero check-called a bet of 1,150 from Jason Mercier.
Fourth street brought the and another Barbero check, and he once again called a bet from Mercier -- 2,550 this time.
The last card off was the , and Barbero checked with 6,100 chips left in his stack. Mercier went ahead and made a covering bet of 12,500 to send Barbero deep into the think tank. He took a couple minutes to deliberate before making the call, and it was the wrong one.
Mercier turned up , and his rivered pair of queens was the best hand. Barbero slung his cards into the muck, shook his head, and made his way out of the ropes.
