Frank Kassela Eliminated in 10th Place ($11,027)

Just as I was penning Jason Potter's double up, we did indeed reach our final table, Frank Kassela feeling the full force of the bubble and exiting in 10th. He was short stacked at the time, his remaining chips going in on the turn of a {A-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs} board with {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}, only to find his opponent, Terrence Chan, sitting pretty with {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}. No two-out miracle on the {5-Clubs} river, and Kassela was gone after a valiant effort.

Potter Doubles Through

Jason Potter was all in with {Q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} just moments ago against {5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, but managed to survive a {9-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{J-Diamonds} board to double through to 100,000. Still 10 remain, but despite going down to one 10-handed table and players surely super keen not to bubble, the action has remained fast-paced and we should reach our 'official' final table very soon.

Greeks Bearing Gifts

Georgios Kapalas, the young Greek player who finalled at EPT Barcelona last season, is heading south - he's just lost two hands in a row, one of them a monster.

Hit #1

Terrence Chan raised and Kapalas reraised from the button before both players checked the {8-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop. Chan checked again on the {7-Hearts} turn and this time Kapalas bet. Chan made the call.

Both players reverted to checking on the {10-Diamonds} river and Chan turned over pocket sixes. Kapalas nodded and mucked, and Chan extended his chip lead.

Hit #2

The very next hand, Kapalas opened from the cutoff but faced a reraise from Adrian Dresel-Velasquez in the small blind.

Flop: {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{a-Spades}

It looked as though Dresel-Velasquez bet out and Kapalas called, although it all happened at lightning speed. Either way, only two bets in total found their way into the pot on the flop. But on the turn...

Turn: {7-Spades}

Dresel-Velasquez bet out and this time Kapalas tanked for a while before raising. Back to Dresel-Velasquez, who swiftly reraised. Kapalas called and they headed to the river, the pot by now massive.

River: {6-Hearts}

Dresel-Velasquez bet out again and Kapalas sighed before making the call. Dresel-Velasquez had a look of complete innocence on his face as he flipped {4-Spades}{4-Hearts} for a full house. Kapalas mucked and was down to 278,000.

Jameson Punch Drunk

"Really?" asks a bemused and frustrated Jameson Painter with a sigh.

It was Jameson who kick-started the action, raising it up from the button and receiving one call from Ahmad Abghari in the big blind.

The fop came {8-Clubs}{4-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Abghari check-raised before leading both the {Q-Diamonds} turn and {5-Hearts} river. Jameson called both streets before being shown {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, much to his disgruntlement.

As a result, both players now have 320,000, but are traveling in opposite directions.

Nothing Really Matros

Further loss and accompanying sadness for Matros, as he raised preflop and got a call from Robert Truijers in the big blind.

Truijers check-raised on the {j-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop and Matros called. Truijers checked again on the {k-Spades} turn and this time when Matros bet, he tanked for a while before just calling. Come the {a-Clubs} river, though, Truijers bet out. Matros called - but then shrugged in a "what could I do?" kind of way when Truijers turned over {a-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for a rivered two pair.

Truijers moved on up to 355,000.

Matros took another dive to below 90,000.

Fully Kapable

Georgios Kapalas raised his button and then called a reraise from Matthew Matros in the small blind.

The flop came down {2-Spades}{4-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}, the action went check/bet/call.

The turn was the {3-Clubs}; this time both players checked.

The river was the {k-Diamonds} and Matros now bet out. Kapalas called, and Matros had presumably not counted on this, as he could only boast {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts} at showdown, and Kapalas' {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} were good to take the pot.
