Chips for the Champ

Opponent: (X) (X) / {8-Spades} {4-Spades} {10-Spades} {j-Diamonds} / (X)
Ellis: (X) (X) / {j-Hearts} {k-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {10-Hearts} / (X)

The defending champion in this event is Freddie Ellis, an old-school East Coast stud grinder. Last year he gave Daniel Negreanu a clinic in how to play Stud. This year, Negreanu's not at Ellis' table but that hasn't stopped Ellis from putting on the clinic.

Ellis was the only caller on third street after an opponent completed aneight. Ellis had the betting lead for the rest of the way, putting in a bet every time. Each time his oppponent called. At the river, the call from Ellis' opponent was a little slower but he did finally call. Ellis turned up {k-Spades} {q-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} in the hole for two pair, kings and tens. When his opponent mucked, Ellis asked, "Did you have two pair?" There was no response.
