Sung In Freefall

Steve Sung raises again and Nathan Mullen makes the call from the big blind.

The flop is {J-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {2-Hearts} and Sung bets 205,000 but Mullen check-raises for an additional 500,000 more. Sung folds and is rapidly dropping to the bottom of the chip counts.

Stung Sung

Nathan Mullen raises to 165,000 and Steve Sung calls from cutoff, Dan Heimiller calls in the big blind also.

The flop is {6-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {9-Hearts}, Heilmiller and Mullen both check, Sung though, has other ideas and bets out 340,000.

Heimiller calls and Mullen folds. The turn is the {7-Hearts}, which makes the board very scary indeed. Heimiller now leads for 400,000 and Sung folds.

Sung is now quite short.

Playing Limit on the Flop

Steve Sung limps for 60,000 from the hijack, Pete Vilandos raises to 150,000 from the button and they see a {8-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {4-Spades} flop.

Sung leads out for 250,000 and Vilandos raises to 500,000, Sung makes it 250,000 more for a total of 750,000. Vilandos calls and the turn is the {8-Diamonds}, Sung leads for 700,000 and Vilandos quickly moves in with Sung folding even quicker.

Heimiller Loses 2.5 Million Pot

Dan Heimiller limps UTG, Pete Vilandos makes it 205,000 from the small blind and Larry Sidebotham folds. Heimiller calls and the flop comes {8-Clubs} {4-Spades} {3-Spades} which looks to be better for Heimiller's holding than Vilandos'. Both players check, the turn is the {5-Spades} and Vilandos bets just 200,000, Heimiller makes it 500,000 and Vilandos makes a quick call.

The river is the {6-Hearts} and Vilandos checks, Heimiller bets 600,000 now into this giant pot and Vilandos makes the call. Heimiller shows {4-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} but Vilandos shows {K-Spades} {2-Diamonds} for the huge turn draw and rivered straight.

Hunyh Out to Dry! Phong Hunyh Knocked Out In 8th Place. ($117,414)

Ouch!
Ouch!
Phong Hunyh limps in for 60,000 from third position. James Matz III makes it 200,000 behind him. Larry Sidebotham makes the call and so does Hunyh.

All three players check the {J-Clubs} {4-Spades} {3-Diamonds} flop and Sidebotham leads for 370,000 on the {7-Hearts} turn. Hunyh makes the call before Matz moves all-in for 1,265,000.

Sidebotham thinks while Matz sits back looking (or attempting to look) very calm and composed. Sidebotham folds painfully while Hunyh thinks for a minute before making the call.

Hunyh calls with {3-Spades} {3-Clubs} and Matz shows {J-Hearts} {J-Spades} for a nasty set over set altercation.

The river is the {A-Clubs} and Matz has Hunyh covered and knocks him out.

A horrible spot for Hunyh, but to his credit, it looked as though he thought he might be beat before he made the call.

We Restart...

Dan Heimiller still is leading here with 8 players remaining. Interestingly, despite his bracelet and numerous final tables, he still refers to himself as a 'semi-professional'.

And if on cue, Heimiller raises the first hand to 175,000 and takes the blinds and antes.

Sung Pushes Hunyh Out

Phong Hunyh raises to 130,000 from the cutoff, Steve Sung reraises to 405,000 from the small blind.

Hunyh makes a pretty speedy call and the flop comes {8-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {4-Spades}. Both players check and the turn is the {9-Spades}, Sung counts out and pushes forward a stack of green chips, 500,000 to be exact.

Hunyh sits fiddling with his chips, one hand over his mouth, staring intensely at the flop and then the bet. After a minute, he gives it up.

One for Vilandos

Steve Sung limps for 50,000 and Pete Vilandos makes it 200,000 behind him. Everyone folds back to Sung, who makes the call after thinking for a minute.

The flop comes {J-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} and Sung checks and eventually calls a 2250,000 bet. The {8-Diamonds} is the turn and Sung checks a second time, this time Vilandos bets 375,000. Sung looks like he wants to call, but then rechecks his cards more openly than usual, the classic 'going to fold' move.

Sung folds and Vilandos takes the pot.
