Jacob and Cantu Joust

Alex Jacob
Alex Jacob
Brandon Cantu and Alex Jacob have been content to stay out of each other's way for the majority of the day, but the two familiar faces finally butted heads in a massive pot.

It started when Brandon Cantu opened yet another pot with a raise to 230,000. Alex Jacob made the call next door, and it was heads up to the flop.

It came down {6-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {3-Hearts}. Cantu checked, and Jacob fired out a bet of 300,000. After some quick calculations, Cantu called.

The turn brought the {2-Spades} and a check from both players. On the river, the {10-Spades} drew another check from Cantu. Jacob paused for a brief moment before quietly announcing, "All in." Cantu stood up from his chair with a puzzled look on his face. It was clear the gears were turning in his head, but he ended up making the wrong decision. With either confidence or longing in his voice, he firmly announced a call. Jacob quickly and quietly turned over {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts}.

"SH*T!" Cantu whispered, though it was plenty loud enough to be heard throughout the featured table area. He flung his cards in the muck and shook his head. As the floor person was counting down Jacob's stack, Cantu mouthed the words, "Why'd I do that?" to himself.

After that monumental turnaround, Cantu has taken a big step back to 2,320,000. And that means that we have a new chip leader. With 3,640,000, Alex Jacob is now firmly atop the board.
