The Afro is Coming

Mohsin Charania
Mohsin Charania
Mohsin Charania was all in before the flop with {A-Hearts} {10-Hearts}, and Alex Jacob looked him up with {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}. The board ran out {3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{5-Hearts} {5-Diamonds}, giving both players aces up. Jacob's kicker played though, and he took down another big pot. That pushes him all the way up to 1,500,000, sending Charania out the door in the process.

Full House Not Enough

On a turn board showing {J-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds}, Brandon Cantu led out into the three-way pot with a bet of 100,000. Next door, Michele Iacovone made the call, and Tyler Spalding put in a minimum raise to 200,000. Cantu got the message and folded out of the way, but Iacovone moved all in with the big stack. Spalding instantly called.

Showdown
Iacovone: {4-Spades} {4-Hearts}
Spalding: {6-Clubs} {6-Hearts}

Iacovone thought he hit paydirt with his full house on the turn. Unfortunately for him, Spalding had the unbeatable quads, earning the young man a huge double up to 1,150,000. Iacovone had enough chips to survive that big hit, still sitting with 615,000.

Joe Bartholdi Out

Joe Bartholdi
Joe Bartholdi
Alex Jacob just picked up another big chunk of chips, getting all in with {A-Spades} {K-Spades}. Joe Bartholdi was actually the player at risk, tabling {Q-Spades} {9-Hearts} with two live cards to save his tournament.

The board ran sour though, coming {Q-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {4-Spades} {6-Clubs} {2-Spades} to give Jacob the knockout. He's up to 900,000 now, and the two pros are really pushing for that chip lead here in the early stages of the final day.

Look Out!

It's hard to say exactly what happened, but something happened while we were writing that last Cantu double up.

As we walk back to his table, he's now over 1.1 million, once again near the top of the leader board.

Cantu Doubles Again

Brandon Cantu
Brandon Cantu
Brandon Cantu has slipped down around 300,000 over the past 15 minutes or so, and we pick him up involved in what would become a big pot.

First in from the small blind, Cantu opened with a raise to 45,000. Next door, chip leader Michele Iacovone reraised to 125,000. Cantu moved in and Iacovone instantly called.

Showdown
Cantu: {A-Spades} {A-Hearts}
Iacovone: {K-Spades} {K-Clubs}

The board was safe for Cantu: {5-Spades} {Q-Spades} {2-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {9-Hearts}. He's notched his second big double up of the day, just pipping over 600,000 now.

Iacovone is still just fine with 1.2 million in chips.

Christopher Kolla Crumbles

Christopher Kolla
Christopher Kolla
Working with the short stack, Christopher Kolla moved all in before the flop with {Q-Diamonds} {9-Spades}, first in from the button. Kelvin Crawford looked down at {7-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} in the small blind, and he made the call to put Kolla at risk.

The board was a big dry desert for the at-risk player, coming {5-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {2-Clubs} {4-Diamonds}. Failing to improve and win his final race of the day, Kolla is out.

Everyone Else is Doubling; Brandon Can-tu

Brandon Cantu was all in before the flop with {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}. His opponent was Conrad Monica and his {A-Hearts} {J-Clubs}.

In a good spot for a double, Cantu sweated the board of {3-Hearts} {8-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {8-Clubs}. Fourth street locked up the pot and the much needed double up for the pro (who's been unusually quiet so far today). He's back just over 500,000, while Monica is crippled down to 170,000.
