The Micon Promise

Some chatter has been going on about winning a gold WSOP bracelet now that the final eight players have their eye on the prize. Bryan Micon just told the table and the rail, "I promise you if I ever win one, you'll never see me without it."

Good River for Van Alstyne

Omaha Hi/Lo:

Fabrice Soulier was not please to see James Van Alstyne's hand at showdown. Coming back to the table, we caught the action on the turn of a {10-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {A-Hearts} board. Soulier checked and called a bet from Van Alstyne. It was the same action on the {10-Diamonds} river, with Van Alstyne opening {Q-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {9-Spades} for a full house, tens full of nines. Soulier angrily mucked.

Malcolm With Some Red Ladies

Hold'em:

Brian Malcolm raised from the button after action folded to him. Mitch Schock called out of the big blind. The flop came down {10-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {2-Spades} and Malcolm fired after it was checked to him. Schock made the call.

The turn was the {2-Hearts} and Schock check-called again from out of position.

The river was another deuce, the {2-Diamonds}. Schock check-called another bet from Malcolm. Malcolm rolled over two red ladies, {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}, for a full house and won the pot.

Schock's Lead Grows

Hold'em:

It was a raise preflop from Mitch Schock that Ron Schiffman reraised in position. Schock was the only caller. He checked the {J-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} flop to Schiffman, who obliged with a bet. Schock check-raised, then led out the turn {7-Clubs} and the river {10-Spades}. Schiffman called each time, then seemed bemused to see Schock turn up {J-Clubs} {10-Clubs} for a full house, tens full of jacks.

Schiffman is down to 210,000. Schock is leading the field with about 865,000.

Farzad Rouhani - 9th Place
Stud Hi/Lo:

On third, James Van Alstyne completed and then Farzad Rouhani raised. Van Alstyne reraised and then Rouhani called. On fourth street, Rouhani called all in for his last chips. Here's how the boards ran out.

Van Alstyne: ({Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}) {J-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {J-Clubs}
Rouhani: ({5-Hearts} {2-Hearts}) {6-Spades} {6-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}

Rouhani was unable to pull a low on seventh to get half the pot and stay alive. He went home just short of the official final table, finishing in 9th place.

Stud Hi/Lo:

Bryan Micon got involved with Brian Malcolm. Micon brought in and Malcolm completed. Micon made the call. Micon called a bet from Malcolm on fourth and then on fifth street, he fired a bet after Malcolm passed to him. Malcolm made the call. On sixth, he bet again after Malcolm checked to him. Malcolm came along again. On seventh, Malcolm check-called once more. Here's how the boards looked.

Micon: (X-X) {2-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {10-Spades} (X)
Malcolm: (X-X) {6-Spades} {8-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {K-Hearts} (X)

After all the betting was complete, Micon revealed {A-?} {7-?} {3-?} and scooped the entire pot with ace high and a six-four low.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Bryan Micon everyone!" one of the players yelled at the table.
