To Rebuy or Not to Rebuy

Players at Jeff Lisandro's table are discussing the merits of playing rebuy events at the WSOP (all rebuy events were made freezeouts this year). Lisandro and David Benyamine are in favor of rebuy events. "If some rich guy wants to buy in ten times in the PLO, let him," remarked Lisandro.

Benyamine pointed out that some people get really ridiculous with their rebuys. "How many times did Daniel rebuy -- 52?" he asked.

For what it's worth, the answer is 48 - a record Negreanu set in the 2006 WSOP that will never be broken unless rebuy events return in the future. Negreanu himself agrees with the change made this year.

"When you are giving away a World Series of Poker bracelet I think everyone should have an equal chance to win it, not just a chance based on how fat their wallets are," Negreanu was quoted as saying back in February of this year.
